The key to the season will be how this team responds to a 0-1 start

In the 12 team playoff era, this game just doesn't mean as much as it used to. With transfers all over the field and Clemson having home-field advantage, keeping it close would be a nice showing.

This team's mettle will really be tested in the weeks after... can they bounce back and win 10 of the last 11? I think so! And then, can they beat Clemson in a rematch? Time will tell.

OP is absolutely correct to point this out, and history shows that losing the opener would still put us in elite company.

I’m old enough to remember the 2003 and 2007 national championship seasons, both of which we started 0-1. To this day, that ’07 team is still the only team to lose two games (both in triple OT) and win a championship in the modern era.

Our only undefeated championship team is the 2019 team, so Tiger fans would be wise to recalibrate their expectations on what a winner looks like in the aftermath of a potential loss to Clemson.

This is so short sighted. Every win or loss move you 1 pace in the right direction. You can only move the needle 12 times. This may be true for them, but we have a real schedule after this game. They do not.

Chalking this game up to a loss and that it would be "no big deal" and that we will "win 11 straight afterward" is hysterical

TD will be on full on melt mode. I will be bummed out to. Here's to hoping Defense steps up like I think they will.

Am I missing some sarcasm or something? We definitely started 1-0 in both those seasons.

It is an unfortunate reality that we LSU fans have to accept... this will hopefully be a growing moment for the team, win or lose.

While I think you're being extremely presumptious by assuming we'll lose a game that we're only a 3 point underdog in, I think this brings up a good point. There's nothing for this team to be afraid of in this game. We've started 0-1 every year with BK, and we've managed every time to still be in a position to have a chance at the playoffs in the month of November. This year's team is even more capable than those team of clawing our way back into contention status if Game 1 slips away again. Play like there's nothing to lose, because there truly isn't anything to lose while we're still in August.

Hey old enough, we lost to Kentucky and Arkansas DURING the season.

In 2003, we lost to Fla, during the season, not the first game...

We always seem to respond pretty well, usually it takes a couple of weeks for us to get rolling, the only thing that keeps us from elevating a level is we drop a game in the middle or end of the season to teams we should've beaten with little trouble

False. 03 was a loss to Florida, and first loss of 07 was also in October.

False. Ohio State just did this.

Also, from the sound of it, our lack of safeties may be a concern this game (at least the first half). People seem to be forgetting about this
