First Game Expectations

I have been a Tigers fan since I was young and i've never been fortunate enough to attend an LSU game. I was able to get tickets to the first home game this year and i'm bringing my 9yo son with me. He is a big Tigers fan also and this is his early birthday gift. I am staying at the Hilton close by the stadium. What are the dos and don'ts? Should I drive, uber, shuttle, or even walk to the game? Best places to eat? A few spots to maybe take my son to make his trip more memorable.

If you can walk, do it. If not, see if hotel has a shuttle.

Walk if you can, stop at Walk-ons if on the way (before or after). Chimes also a good spot for food and views. Go see mike the Tiger. Souvenir shop is right next to Mike's cage (theres also a bigger store near the union) See the band and team come down the hill. Be friendly and somebody may invite you into their tailgate for food and beer. I think you can still walk into the Pmac and see some of the early football games on the big screen (not sure if the band still goes into the Pmac). Stay away from Parade grounds unless you want to hang with sorrority and frats kids.

I don’t believe there is a Hilton within walking distance of the stadium. Walking isn’t an option

What Hilton is walkable to the stadium?

When I say close, I mean under 3 miles. But would still be a hike if I tried to get a 9yo to walk it.

Do not walk from Hilton downtown BR to LSU. Very dangerous after dark.

Get to campus early like around 10 before it starts filling in so you can get around and see everything.
Chimes for lunch. Arrive early like around 11.
Bengals and bandits across the street from chimes for merch
Barnes and Noble on campus for merch
Mike the Tiger (reason to arrive early) it will be so crowded you may want to check this out Sunday before leaving town or Friday.
Get to victory hill early. At least an hour before they’re scheduled to walk down.

DO NOT UBER. You will be stranded forever. There is parking at the embassy that you can pay $40 and then head down Nicholson. If you are somehow able to walk based on how close you are then do that. But do not Uber that is a bad decision you will never be able to get an uber to you.

How deafening will this game be, should I bring some hearing protection for my 9yo?
