Before CBK took over this team the offensive line was terrible at pass blocking. Let’s be honest fella ! We haven’t had a great running game since we had LF7 and Guice .

What concerns me about his plan to rotate in and out, it screws up the timing of the players. I would rather see one fixed group for most of the game and then sub when they get winded.

I think they will fine. Hiccup or two but Nuss just needs to get on the ground. No fumble or interception seizures this year.

Well this is just not true. 1414 yds with 6.6 yds/carry 16 TDs for an average of 94.3 yds a game is not being a great running game for a single running back? That is crazy. I would take that running game every year. That was CEH btw.

We were a good running team in 22 and 23. Now that was due to the QB we had but it was still a very effective good running team. We changed offensive philosophies which is more predicated on passing the game so you're not going to see the 60-70% running teams that produced some of the most ypg on the ground in the country.

We need to be a little more balanced but I don't ever want to see our teams have a philosophy that comes close to what we had at the end of Miles tenure and Coach O's first season as Head Coach. Those offensives were maddening to watch and there is a reason that we could never win anything of note with those offenses.

We need to be more balanced which will open up a lot more efficient passes for Nuss and opportunities down the field but we don't need to be the in the top 5 of rushing teams in the conference. We just do not need to be dead last in the SEC again. Middle of the pack is plenty good enough to get us where we want to be.

Our running game will be fine because we now have an experienced, explosive back who can see the crease and explode through it. His backups are also explosive. Our O-Line's job is to maintain a block while the RB finds the crease.

Think about it, we mostly run the RPO scheme where the QB sticks the ball into the gut of the RB and based on the LBs / DBs reactions either let's it go with the RB or pulls it for a pass. The O-Line doesn't know if its run or pass so they hold blocks and hold their ground. If they push downfield, it's a penalty - illegal man downfield. The RB has to see the hole and accelerate. Durham's avg. yds/carry number last year were way better than JW because he is a better fit for this scheme - more explosive.
Also, with the WR speed we now have, I hope teams stack the line to stop the run and let Nuss destroy them over the top. Safeties cheating on the run will be punished this year.

Were we really a good running team or did JD5 make us look like a good running team? Clyde 2019 season was awesome and he made a bunch of players miss in the backfield and the box wasn’t always stack against Clyde. I do think we find our balance in the running game this year .

Despite everything the media has said....Clemson does NOT have a Dominant defense...they have some good pieces.

I expect a few hiccups with our new faces, but it will look a lot like the bowl game.

OL will be fine.

It will come down to execution in the red zone, and limiting them to Field goals.

Part of this may be keeping guys engaged/ on the roster. And if you genuinely think 2 guys are good. It doesnt have to mean both guys suck, when someone is going between 2 qbs and who to start. Curne is seemingly a mule.. so they will rotate him with thompson, maybe. Lg has just been a battle between the 3 guys, and I doubt they rotate 3 guys in a game. Maaaybe 2.. and thats likely only if they see pressure, issues coming from that spot.

In 2019 we played 8 oline guys. Part of that was our tackle was suspended for x games, and guard had injuries, but still, we played 8 guys that season as starters. Not saying this line is that group, just that it can be a good thing. If curne is pushing a rg that every team wanted in the portal, 4 yrs younger then him, I take that as a good sign.

And it seems we have our guys at lt, c, rt. Kind of like the idea they know they need to go whoop arse and earn the starting minutes

Obviously Baylor are not world beaters on the DL . But Aranda knows what he’s doing on D. The OL held up pretty well in the bowl game. Add competent new center and another year, I think we ‘ll be ok.

It was a combination of having Daniels and having a better Center. For all of Turner’s shortcomings, he had the protections and calls right and the OL organized. Execution was much better overall and there were fewer busted assignments.

I will tell you with absolute certainty that we would have been better up front and in the run game last year if Turner had come back for a COVID season. Not amazing, but also not last in the fricking conference.

I understand the angst about the OL but having a very good center will be a big advantage.Calling the signals on the OL telling the guards and tackles the assignment for the D alignment is invaluable.Ask the Saints last year and of course theTigers.

Not knowing if a play is a run or pass is probably one of the dumbest approaches to a running game ever. Even Olinemen guess as to what the play will be based on down and distance. Utilizing the same blocking scheme on ever run play is just like not trying. I think our offensive coaches can do better than that....both from scheme and blocking technique. Offensive football success is not always about who is the biggest and strongest. Quite often it is about who is smartest and deceptive. I will say LSU is one of the least deceptive offensive teams I have ever watched. I hope that changes when we face teams as talented as we are, but after three years of the same plays, I have little hope that will happen.

Nobody will be stacking the box to stop the run against us this year. Not to say Durham
won’t have some good-great games and a very successful season, but he’s gonna get most of his yards in explosive 15-20+ yard bursts. I can’t see us just having long, drawn out drives where we’re just getting 6-7 yards/run all the way up and down the field, imposing our will.

Most of our yards will come from explosives. Those 6-7 yards will probably come on WR handoffs or swing passes, which will be an extension of the running game. We’ll probably do that more than we maybe ever have. You’re right that opposing safeties are gonna have to come down and make tackles. But a lot of those will on swing passes/handoffs to Berry, Thomas, and I’d imagine Brown, A.Anderson, Hilton, and maybe up to 3 more of those super speedy WRs. This may the be the fastest WR group in CFB history. But those plays will be spread out and not so predictable, especially if we’re going tempo.

Back to your point—I just really can’t see a team ever stacking the box against us to stop the run. I can’t see where that would ever really be worth the risk.

This not how this works. On RPOs the OL blocks the run as if its going to be handed off 100% of the time. It's on the QB to pull it and throw it quickly so you don't get an illegal man downfield penalty.

We will rotate the left guard mubenga and echols. We might rotate the right tackle with curne. Chester is the backup up for both guards and center.

Having a badass Center will make a difference.

Chester was pretty bad last year and made our whole OL look average.

Look at 2019, the best OLineman was Cushenberry, Chuck Turner was a good center too

Wrong. Apparently you forgot all about CEH in 2019 breaking ankles left and right on his way to over 1400 yds rushing and 16 TDs. LSU averaged right at 170 rushing yds per game that year. I feel like Burrow, Chase and Jefferson makes a lot yall completely forget how good LSUs run game was also that year.
