Clemson Game Info/Tailgating

Greetings Tiger Fans,
Clemson fan here looking forward to welcoming you guys to Tiger Town on Saturday. Have seen some questions over on tigernet regarding places to go/tailgating/etc.
1. If you're still looking for a place to stay and can't get a room in Clemson, Greenville, SC is great option. Awesome downtown area, lots of restaurants, bars, and plenty of hotel options. It's only a 45 minute drive to Clemson.
2. You'll want to checkout downtown and try to hit some of the staple bars, TDs, TTTs, and Study Hall are all great options. ESSO club is another staple, but it's a short walk from downtown.
3. Campus - I'd also recommend checking out campus. It's beautiful, but bring your walking shoes, it is full of hills (you are in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains).
4. Tailgating/parking - Parking around the stadium is limited to IPTAY members. There is some day of parking in the downtown area but be prepared to pay 50-100 to park the day of.
If you do purchase a parking pass in one of the Lots around the stadium and want to have a full scale tailgate, there is a company that offers tailgate setups for people around campus.

Also, happy to answer any questions! Looking forward to Saturday!

The ESSO Club is the closest to the stadium. But if you want food you’re going to have to get there very early. Otherwise it’s a great place to hang outside, drink canned beer, listen to a live band and watch football games on a large screen.
Tiger Town Tavern (TTT) and TDs are two classic Clemson bars that are in downtown Clemson (an easy 15 minute walk to the stadium).

TY bought a parking pass because I heard parking is very tough..Man they gouged on the parking passes, anywhere from 250 to be shuttle in, to 1700 by the stadium for a single spot...Wow!

Staying at the Grand Bohemian in Greenville. Having dinner at Rick Erwin’s. I’m pumped!
I’m in lot 25. Is that a good location? I chose it because it’s near bars and restaurants.

Also, Clemson allows fans to leave the stadium and come back in (once). It’s very popular for folks to leave and tailgate during halftime. It’s more common with a lesser opponent when you can stroll back in with no worries.

Good info. I’m in Lot 12 (picked that strategically so I can get out more easily after the game). How far is that walk to, say, ESSO?

I’m staying at the Hampton Inn on Tiger Blvd, so I should be good to walk almost anywhere.

quote:On a normal day that’s a 30 minute walk to the ESSO (without dodging traffic, crowds and tailgate setups). If you did walk it, you’d pass by the stadium and be in the core of the big tailgating lots. Downtown would be the same distance and you’d walk through campus.

I read somewhere that there is a church you can park for free and take a shuttle over. Supposedly near a Michael's. Is that true?

Thanks for the info. Live in Charlotte, but driving down to Greenville for the weekend. Was hoping there would be several pay to park options on the east side of Clemson to make for an easier drive back to Greenville after the game.

Are you saying that we need to make a donation to that church to park there? Or is that part of the IPTAY benefits? If so, it is split between the IPTAY and paid parking? Any idea of how much? Im cool with donating to the church to park... just want to bring the right amount of $

How’s the traffic back to Greenville after a big game?

Any bar you can get into downtown will be decent but they will all be crowded. Tiger Town Tavern (TTTs) and TDs are staples but they will be crowded. Study Hall is another one that is downtown that is decent. There is also a Charleston Sports Pub.

Awesome hotel in Greenville. If you're a bourbon drinker, check out their bourbon bar that is below their restaurant, will have plenty of high end bourbons to sample!
Lot 25 is right across from Bowman Field for the most part. I believe it's considered an Area Lot (could be wrong here though, your parking tag will say area or have a #) where it's first come first served within the lot and not assigned spots. I'd suggest getting their early if it is an area lot. Lots will open at 8:00 a.m. Saturday.

Once you get out of Clemson, it's not terrible. The problem is getting out of Clemson. They will reverse all lanes to one way out, but depending on where you park, be prepared to sit for a while.
