Old lady found her a good car in OKC, great hassle free experience.

I think I'm up to like 5 or 6 family members that have all used Carvana in the last year or two. All had hassle free experiences and swear they'll never buy a car any other way.

There's a place around me here in Central Alabama that has a fixed price tag. Hassle free and typically a bit cheaper than Carvana.
Plus, you get to test drive the actual vehicle

Yes, but just to sell. They gave me more money than any of the other services out there, would definitely recommend for that.

Have sold 2 cars on carvana

Was extremely easy and they paid much more than dealership would for trade

Though the dealerships now seem to be matching whatever carvana and carmax offer (minus the sales tax savings a trade gives you)

A lot like CarMax

You don’t have to deal with salesman BS. You find the car you want and you just do the paperwork. No haggle

If you find a car you want, can you test-drive it?

You'll pay more than shopping and haggling to the bare minimum, but it certainly is easy and that is worth something to me. I bought one through them and will certainly shop them again when I need another one.

Sold a car to them about 2 years ago and it was a fantastic experience. Online quote probably 10% higher than most. Brought it in and they honored the quote. Would I do it again - yes.

But that's not what you are asking. Would I buy a car from them, hell no. Given my experience and seeing how they inspected my vehicle, I would not. Handed him the keys, walked out to the vehicle, one walk around, opened it, cranked it, turned it off and came back inside and handed me a pre-written check. In and out in 15 minutes. No test drive. No multi-point inspection. I could have wrecked and welded the chassis back together and they would have never known. Also, have heard multiple nightmare stories about buying cars form them like the vehicle not working as soon as it is unloaded. Also, know they do not do very thorough background checks on vehicles.

Bought one and financed through them about five years ago. Would definitely do again. About as simple as ordering off Amazon.

From what I have seen their prices are high but most people are either terrified to interact with a human being or have the social skills of a grizzly bear with a bad tooth and can't interact with a human being.

I sold a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis with 48K miles on it to them 4 years ago for $12k. It was clean as a pin but there were about 10 just like it within 100 miles listed for $8k or so. I doubt they even put that car on their lot due to its age and it probably went straight to auction and sold for around $2500.....I thought then it was unsustainable but I was wrong....I wish I had 20 of them at the time LOL....

The truly unreal part about it was I was looking for a truck at the time and saw their ad for buying cars. Wasn't thinking about selling the car but out of curiosity I sent them the information and they immediately responded with an offer of $12k. I thought it was a hoax, no one in their right mind would have bought that car, clean as it was, for that price. They did....had a kid about 18 years old come out and look at it with a checklist and he gave us the written offer, he texted someone and about 15 minutes later here came the rollback and off it went. All in, from the time I finished filling out the information to the time they came and hauled it away I had about 15 minutes in it...they had about 5 before it was theirs. How they ain't broke is a mystery to me but I was happy to have the money.

I used them two years ago. At the time, they were cheaper than anyone. It was a painless order.

You could return it within one week or 400 miles. If within one week, but over 400 there is a mileage fee. Shipping is nonrefundable.

You can buy extended coverage, but a 90 day/4000 mile warranty came with it standard.

When it arrived, we took it for a test drive and noticed either an intermittent engine miss or transmission issue. The car was replacing a car that I didn't want to take on trips any longer. We had a trip to take and it was under warranty, so we accepted it.

After our trip, I scheduled service and found that the transmission was on it's way out.

Carvana owns a third party warranty service. What I have found is that no garages want to deal with these third party insurers. My mechanic, who I have used since a teenager, says he'll make the estimate. He calls the third party. The third party will send out an adjuster. Maybe that day, maybe the next day. The adjuster will demand used parts. Meanwhile, your vehicle is occupying the rack and no money is being made. He flat out refused to work under that warranty.

Carvana didn't have a preferred garage in my town(70,000pop). The only garage that would honor their warranty was oddly the Ford dealer. The dealer would not install a used transmission and aftermarket remans weren't available on that new of a car.

I got a new $7000 transmission eventually. A lot of poor decision making on my part, but we haven't had any issues other than that rocky start. The car was never inoperable. We drove it until it spent three weeks at the Ford dealer for the transmission replacement.

If I lived in a town with a preferred garage, I would be driving with a salvage yard transmission.

We came out lucky.

They have a fair return policy, and you need to be prepared to use it. I got lucky with mine, it was in exceptional mechanical condition. It had documented dealer service records and low mileage so it was a low risk buy, but you need to have your day planned so that you can do a very detailed inspection and test drive the minute it comes off the truck. If you aren't mechanically inclined, you need to have an appointment with a shop that same day and be prepared to make a decision if you want to fix it or send it back, if it needs anything.

It's got its quirks and it's expensive, but it's a good option to have IMO.

I have always been of the opinion that I had to test drive a used car and look it over and kick the tires before buying it but in all honesty the last 5 or 6 I have bought were low mileage late model cars, the kinds they sale at CarMax and similar places, and while I did indeed test drive them and kick the tires that is all it amounted to...cars are soooooo much more reliable today than they were 30 years ago that it is probably sufficient to trust to luck that a 3 year old car with 25K on the odometer is probably exactly what it appears to be on paper...

I'm selling my GX to them. They're coming to pick it up tomorrow. We'll see how it goes but so far it's been easy.

Not about being terrified to interact or a social skills issue.

Actually I take that back, it is a social skills issue. From the side of the car salesman. They aren't real. And 99% of them you can tell they aren't real. Their entire job is to frick you. They will say it's not, it's to work out the best deal for all involved, but that's not true. There are 4 parties in a car deal at a dealership. The bank, the manufacturer, the dealer, and the buyer.

The bank and the manufacturer aren't getting fricked. So that leaves two. One of the remaining two are losing. Their whole job is "don't lose". With carvana you lose when it comes to the financing. They win. You pay to not have to talk to a shitty human. As close to a win as it gets.

Agreed, just don't finance through them. Their rates are on par with the "buy here pay here" places.
