doesn't sound like much, but it topped Weapons, which came in second at $15M.

it's a literal phenomenon

In a box office twist, a film from the theatrical-averse Netflix appears to be No. 1 on North American charts. “Kpop Demon Hunters,” a sing-along version of the hit animated musical, is estimated to have earned $18 million to $20 million on Saturday and Sunday.

Netflix isn’t reporting grosses, but projections from rival studios and exhibitors would put ticket sales for “Kpop Demon Hunters” ahead of those for “Weapons,” which was expected to claim first place and looks to earn a strong $15.6 million from 3,631 North American theaters in its third weekend of release.

Kids are watching that on repeat, whatever ear crack they put in those songs is working.

I haven't watched it...but from the clips I have seen it looks like shite. Very janky with a style I just don't like. Like the photo realistic hair and clothes and then their face looks like a 5 year old drew it.

I finally caved and took the kids this weekend after they have seen it 100 times. Movie was actually great. Songs are great. Wouldn't be surprised if they made a live action of this.

One great animated movie is enough to bewilder you?

This should be the official slogan of this carcass of what used to be a great movie discussion board

Everyone either has a firm opinion about stuff they haven’t seen, or when they do watch it they complain it wasn’t as good as someone else told them it was.

We watched this movie this with our 11 year old granddaughter, and she's squarely in their target audience.. however....

The story was actually decent. The animation is not quite Pixar-level, but close. There are some dark parts and it is definitely not woke. The music is not really traditional k-pop, but may be a good intro to k-pop for those who aren't exposed to it.

What's crazy about this movie's sensational popularity is the music. Watching the movie, I didn't realize how catchy the songs are. They put a lot of thought and effort into the soundtrack. So now, I am somewhat ashamed to admit I have 4 or 5 of those songs on my phone now and not tired of them yet..
