I must be living under a rock because I don't recall CFB teams having general managers. I mean you got the HC and the AD, where the hell does a GM fit into this mix?

Vandy’s GM, Barton Simmons, was a lead analyst at 247 Sports recruiting for many years.

With the way college football is going right now, having a GM to lead with roster management and player evaluation is necessary.

Thanks, so it sounds like with NIL and everything moving so fast that GM's are now a thing. I just don't ever remember this title in CFB or any college sports in the past.

Luck has hiring and firing power over the coaching staff like an NFL GM. Most places it’s just managing the NIL budget, recruiting, and roster management

Capt. Luck is a leader of men, I wouldn’t hesitate to entrust the fate of my firstborn into his experienced hands and the wisdom of his experiences.

because there wasn’t a need. There’s a need for it now, hence the position existing.

There was probably always the need, but just not the money

I predict that as players want more of the money, a lot of those dubious paid “staff” positions will disappear

Like for example Middle Tennessee got rid of alternate uniforms

The unit is as prepared as they can possibly be. They are strong, smart, and, of course, full of Squirrel Oil.

This aged like Squirrel Oil on a hot summer’s day.

Him and his lackey of a coach Frank Reich should hand in their resignation’s immediately. They just lost to a God awful Hawaii team that was starting a true freshman QB who played the entire second half on one leg. Kid for Hawaii is tough as nails, he literally could barely walk and had to be assisted to the sidelines on change of possessions.
