What’s the odds every swinging dick lawyer between New Orleans and Baton Rouge already have their toes dipped into this Smitty’s fire?

Who’s heading up the class action suit so they can screw over the people involved?

That’s a whole different group of attorneys that handle those cases although I’m sure those guys do somewhat.

You sound as though you don’t believe all that oil falling onto people’s homes, into their pools, on their vehicles, landscaping, and into their pet’s drinking water/food is not going to result in millions of dollars in damages. Not to mention all the wildlife that’s going to suffer from it getting into rivers and bayous.

If by “screwed over” you mean pay the attorneys exactly what the retainer contracts they sign say they’ll pay them, then I do believe it.

There are talks already with the attorneys. First step is signing everyone up who lived within 10 miles.

According to our doctrors, if they have a cough this coming year, they have a case.

We are also engaging crooked engineers to help us blame home damage to the vibration from the explosion.

Have a crack in your wall, give us a call.

We need to find more insurance than what the plant has to offer so we will be suing every company who was involved in building the plant, every contractor who serviced the plant, and every manufacturer whose products were used at the plant.

The more defendants involved the more complex our claims will be and the jury will never be able to figure out the truth.

We will carefully draft our pleadings to trigger every type of insurance coverage imaginable and to make sure these claims stay in a local court so that a local elected judge allows us to keep this litigation unwieldy for the defendants.

Claimed damages and litigation costs will be so high for the defense that they will pay ransom via early settlement, which will allow us to fund the campaigns for judges and politicians who will keep this gray train alive.

I don’t see where you left room for tv ads and billboards in your budget.

You’ve probably never heard of the lawyers that are going to make the most off of this.

I’m jealous that you haven’t.

The company and their insurance company are going to have to file for bankruptcy would be my guess.
Some government agency will have to step in and coordinate this initial clean up effort then the lawyers can all fight about things.

I hate personal injury plaintiff attorneys more than anyone.

However, these people have legitimate claims for damages. The lawyers that do this type of business are actually providing real legal help and aren’t the jokes that personal injury attorneys are.

Well done

Unless this was caused by some negligence on the part of the company, there’s really no need for some massive lawsuit.

The lawyers will do all they can to spin this into a situation that could have been avoided but for the company being negligent. They will point out past fines and warnings by OSHA or other agency.

The attorneys have the judges and the media in their pocket too

Can't think of a single scenario where an event like this happens and there isn't at least some degree of negligence, whether it's related to maintenance, employee training, proper warning and shutdown systems in place etc.. the buck stops with the company, and ensuring the safety of their employees and the surrounding community as it relates to the facility is their responsibility.

Certainly there are different degrees of negligence, something like this occurring with now warning or foretelling vs if there were known issues that were reported and not acted upon.
