This guy Tyson Bageant played division II ball at shepherd university in his home state of West Virginia. The bears just signed him to a 2 year, $10 million contract to be number 2 to Caleb Williams. His reaction is so pure. Really beautiful thing. Not the most talented guy on the planet but made it by working his arse off. Love this.

His dad was a professional arm wrestler and is an absolute nut case in the best way possible

Better winning percentage than Caleb, better completion percentage and 2 more rushing TDs than Caleb! Makes you think.

That's some draft privilege

Apparently not about the interceptions.

I thought Travis was his brother, but I’m not sure. He was a great arm wrestler.

Travis Bageant is a national treasure. Just look the guy up on YouTube and/or google.

Why pay him so much to backup? Sounds as if a roster spot, 6 pack beer & a 3 piece spicy and he woulda signed ?

I’m not sure Ben Johnson is sold on Caleb and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he had durability issues. I think they signed Bagent with the thought that he may actually need to play

Bagent was not exactly an unknown. He threw for over 15,000 yds in college. It would be interesting what a QB friendly coach could do with him.

This deal tells me though that the Bears are not sold on Caleb Williams that they would offer the acknowledged backup 10 million on 2 yrs

Absurd conclusion to make. Tyson would be an UFA this off-season if not extended. Having a solid backup QB is one of the most valuable places to be in the NFL. 5M/year is not some crazy contract for a legit good backup.

Also poster earlier claiming the Bears are worried of Caleb’s durability smh….the guy was sacked 68 times last year and he played all 17 games. What are you talking about?

That’s exactly why I’d be worried about it. None of these guys can withstand that forever, not even the most durable. And Caleb ain’t the biggest guy out there

He deserves time to play with a real coaching staff before major concerns get raised.

Yeah, if he doesn’t vastly improve this year, then it’s time to panic

Not really. Jayden being amazing and people wanting to root against him has skewed the perception of what his rookie performance was actually like.

Caleb was pretty awful last season. Most of his TDs were in the second half and/or against the Jags and Panthers. go look at his stats during that long losing streak last season.

He can improve but he was also a rookie with shitty coaching. People talk like he was a bum. Just look at the kid gloves Bryce Young gets treated with versus how Caleb is talked about.
Look at the performances of the highly drafted qbs the last few years. Jayden and CJ are the outliers that were great immediately. Nix is a step behind them and then it's probably Caleb who is next. Trevor was bad as a rookie. Guys like Trey Lance, Richardson, Zach Wilson were bad and are barely hanging on in the league.
