Death penalty vs life

If someone killed your loved one and you had your choice of life w/o parole or death what would you choose and why? For me, death is too easy. Rot in jail.

Death by firing squad and the firing squad is me.

I'd imagine that would be one of those questions you can only truly answer if the situation were to befall you.

Solitary… one hour a day outside the cell. Plus no outside entertainment like a tv or radio.

Don’t most death row people end up sitting there years anyways? I’d go with death penalty, you know those turds who get it are scared out of their mind when it comes.

I used to be of the opinion that the death penalty is better than life without parole but it's hard not to notice that for every death row prisoner requesting them to hurry it up, there's 100 of them doing everything they can to avoid execution.

Modern jails do not equate to rotting.

That’s what’s wrong with the whole process. Let inmates sit there for years and years with all these fricking appeals. Their victims didn’t get any appeals and shite. There is no reason for any appeals if a jury of your peers finds you guilty and impose the death penalty.

Can you garuantee me that no innocent person was ever killed by the state?
If so, death penalty. Quickly.

Louisiana currently has 55 people on death row. Louisiana has only executed 4 people this century (one in each year: 2000, 2002, 2010, 2025)

All felonies should get death penalty

Slow extremely painful and messy death over 60 days while eating nothing but bread and water. Last meal would be the same but it will occur around day 45.
But hey… I’m a dreamer.

I have far too little faith in any govt organization to get it right 100% of the time, and I am not a big fan of killing innocent people. Besides capital cases particularly in the south often have political motives as the local DA runs for reelection. There's been too many cases of Brady violations decades after they happen that come to light, and reluctant DA's that don't want to drop charges or change course when they are wrong.

I’m don’t generally support the death penalty unless there is a threat to safety by keeping the person alive.
I don’t think it’s a deterrent either as it’s applied in the US.
I would much rather see a system of physical beatings accompanied by mental torture for the extent of the prison sentence. Physical pain is more of a deterrent than the death penalty anyway.

That would make you happier vs letting them rot in a 6x8 cell until death?

Define innocent.
Because everyone of those "Innocence Project" cases where they free someone from Death Row, they dude was a criminal and deserved the death penalty, but was an accomplice or committed some other heinous crime.
It's not like they are picking up innocent dudes off the street.

Setting in a cell for many years cost a shitload of money for someone who will in no way be a benefit to society.

Are you truly serious? If so, you’re literally the dumbest person on TD…and that’s saying a lot

This is probably the most brutal way for sure.
The problem is unless they are a problem inmate they won’t put them in pc 23/7. The death row tiers are sometimes known to be better living quarters than the regular inmates.
