I was reading some critics reviews and they seemed luke warm at best. I always loved this movie. Maybe since I saw it when I was around 10 it’s nostalgic to me.
Anyone like or dislike Papillon?

I like it. One of the best prison escape movies there is.

McQueen just had this undying perseverance, kind of sad in the ending with him and Hoffman

Loved the movie but a lot of what is shown and also written by Henri Charriere is more a conglomeration of prison stories and not all necessarily his own experiences.
I much prefer the original film version to the last one starring Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek.

Haven't seen it a long time but I loved it. The scene with the lepers and the cigar.
"How did you know that I have dry leprosy? That it isn't contagious?"
"I didn't."

Loved it but became deathly afraid of leprosy and being imprisoned on an island. My dad took a 7 y/o me and my 5 y/o brother to see it..my mom was ticked off when she found out

It’s a great adventure book. Always recommend when people are looking for books for their middle/high school boys to read.

I love Papillion. I think Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman played great roles.

My dad’s favorite movie. Watched it with him when I was about 9. Been one of my favorite movies ever since.

In my Top 5. I love it - the only thing I don't like it the very end where they show what ended up happening to the prison colony, which I felt was unnecessary. Just let him float off, have a little blurb that tells what happened to him, and let the credits begin to roll.
I always liked the masked breton
Mother Superior pissed me off

What???? The whole point of the movie was to show the world just how inhumane the conditions were and how severe the punishment was for even the slightest infractions. Having it shut down and abandoned to its fate in the jungle was a fitting tribute to the story......................he won in the end.

One of my all time favorite movies. I saw it in the theater way back then. I have watched it many times since.

One of my father-in-laws favorite books and movies. I've watched it a few times over the years with him and always enjoyed it.

My Dad took me to see this at the old Robert E Lee Theater in Baton Rouge when I was 6. I love it to this day.
