May be a stupid question but would the SM10 be a good choice for sand and lob? Thanks

Cleveland RTZs, or the previous gen RTX6s if you want to save $60 or so per wedge.

Not a big Cleveland guy otherwise, but their wedges and putters are fantastic.

Yes, all their wedges are nice. If you're going to go Vokey, I'd go to their website and take the "which one is right for me" test or whatever it is called. They have so many different grinds it's good to make sure you're getting the one that's best for you.

Been using the Ping S159s since they came out and have been really impressed with them.

Cleveland RTZ, they are awesome, great feel and look. I like the full face model.

Not enough experience to make a proper suggestion, but this is what I did. Had some points at golf galaxy after buying other clubs. Got a 50, 54, and 58 in the RTX6.

Better question: Is there any real difference between wedges like there is between irons, drivers, putters? I have played Cleveland wedges, Titleist wedges and have not seen any difference.

IMO, the two most impactful differences by far that you'll see between any two wedges is going from an old grooves to new grooves and then any changes in the grind profiles, both of which don't have much to do with what brand is stamped on the back (as most manufacturers have plenty of grind options). It's why I usually try to just buy the previous year's model.

After that, it just boils down to look and feel preferences.

I do love how Cleveland's wedges have some machining on the toe though without being a "full-face" look and style even though they offer both. Gives me some comfort where I know I'll still get a little bit of spin if I'm opening the face and happen to clip some of that non-grooved area. For that reason, I opt for Cleveland in 56 and 60 deg, and Titleist or Mizuno for 52 and below.

Sure there is. Wedges are just an extension of your irons, if you think there are real differences in irons today then there is going to be differences in wedges. I personally notice the most in the difference in spin they produce. My current Mizunos don't spin nearly as much as my previous Clevelands.

Opinion ahead:

There may be differences, but I think it's a way higher variance across irons and other clubs. One wedge might spin a little more vs another but ultimately flies about the same distance and backs up 3 feet vs 2 feet. You could compare two 7 irons though of different manufacturers and types where forgiveness/spin is magnified with the increased speed and all-of-a-sudden, one is carrying 10-15 yards further than the other and sailing over the green.

I agree with pretty much all of that. I'd say there is a small difference in wedges but definitely can have a wedge that fits your game better than others. And there are also some clear bottom feeders that I'd stay away from.
