NEW: Nonbinary Yosemite biologist who hung a transgender pride flag from El Capitan has been fired.

35-year-old Dr Shannon Joslin was fired after she and 6 other climbers hung a 55-by-35-foot flag from El Capitan.

Joslin is now claiming to be a victim and is demanding that she get her "dream job" back.

"Last week, I was fired from my dream job as a permanent park ranger with the NPS for practicing my First Amendment right."

"In May, I hung a trans flag on El Capitan that celebrated my acceptance of my identity. I hung the flag in my free time, off-duty, as a private citizen."

"I want my rights, and I want my career back."

Yosemite's acting deputy superintendent Danika Globokar said Joslin "failed to demonstrate acceptable conduct" by displaying the flag.

Sounds like he left trash in the park for selfish reasons and ruined the natural beauty that people from all over the world travel to see.

Imagine being a biologist and not recognizing your sex determines your gender. Lunacy.

In a statement from Yosemite National Park, officials stated that “the National Park Service is pursuing administrative action against multiple National Park Service employees for failing to follow National Park Service regulations.”

But wait, there's more. Looks like NPS screwed up.

quote:

There was no policy prohibiting the display of flags on El Capitan until the day after Joslin and their team hung the trans flag, when the NPS issued a new rule banning the hanging of large flags in wilderness areas. Yosemite leadership updated the 2024 Superintendent's Compendium to include the update.

Well, maybe not....

quote:

What’s the Rule?
Yosemite updated its rules in mid-2025. As of May 20, 2025, the park’s Superintendent’s Compendium states:
Within designated wilderness (which makes up over 94% of the park), you cannot hang or affix a banner, flag, or sign—or covers that feature onto any natural or cultural feature—that exceeds 15 square feet (for example, larger than 5’ × 3’), unless you have an official permit.
So basically, if your flag or sign is bigger than 15 sq ft, it’s a no-go in nearly all parts of the park—especially wilderness areas like El Capitan, where most climactic and scenic action happens.

Seems like the media is bouncing all over with this one.

quote:

What Happens If You Break the Rule?
Violating this ban can carry serious consequences. Penalties may include:
• Fines up to $5,000 for individuals
• $10,000 for organizations
• Potential imprisonment of up to 6 months
These are significant penalties—and they underscore how seriously the National Park Service is treating unauthorized displays.

Hold up.. So that is the same person in the picture? WTF is that? A chick with a mustache? And why does the face look fake? That person goes to work like that? frick that. That's a clown. If that person dresses like that for work everyday.. That shouldn't be allowed at all. Dress like what you got. You got a dick? Dress like a man.
