Over the years I’ve used the Avatar nutrition App to track my macros. I started back this month and I’ve been utilizing ChatGtp along side it. I’m realizing it is a game changer. Grabbed some Dominos the other day and told it how many pieces and what was on it and typed it right into the App.

I just downloaded the MacroFactor app and have used it for the past few days. The AI feature that allows you to take a pic of the food seems accurate. It really is amazing how you can destroy your macros with one or two wrong food choices.

I'm a numbers guy so I enjoy being able to see where I'm at throughout the day. I'm at 172 right now and would like to get down to 150lbs by Jan 1. It seems this extra weight is contributing to these various soft tissue injuries that keep popping up.

I use the Levels app and I feel like the AI is retarded.
Plus I enjoy the dopamine hit of manually logging. I'm sure it will get more precise, but I don't use it.

MacroFactor

So, stupid question. After it calculates my daily intake, am I supposed to hit that mark daily to reach the weight loss goals by the date chosen? I'm getting under on all except for protein, which I'm hitting daily. I'm a good 500-700 less calories a day than what it's showing as my daily limit.

How tall are you? That seems like a lot of weight to cut for an average height person.

Well, I have been tracking Macros on and off for years, so I feel like I will be able to call BS if AI comes up with something too off. I still manually plug the information in and I eat a lot of the same stuff so it's already there to be used. But I am finding Ai is good for on-the-go tracking, where I don't have to go to a chain restaurant website to figure the Macros out.

I'm very new to this app, but from what I understand, yes, you are supposed to stay under the calorie limit each day and as long as you are entering your weight daily then it is intuitive enough to take that into consideration and adjust the daily macros if/where needed.

If you are showing a caloric deficit each day then you should be trending in the right direction.

ChatGPT is very helpful in estimating the nutritional values of meals. I find it works well if you take a picture and describe what is in the meal. The AI feature of MacroFactor does the same thing, but I am thinking about dumping MF and moving over to ChatGPT for estimating meals.

5'8"

I ran 8 marathons at 160 and felt my best. I say the goal is 150 but I'm not sure there is much difference between 150 and 160 if I am staying active and eating clean.

I just feel like between a torn groin in 2024 and a small calf tear this month that I need to be doing more preventative maintenance. I have incorporated more stretching as well.

Yeah, I'm definitely losing weight, around 4lbs so far. Feeling much better already, even though I'm not really that heavy. It's amazing what even just a few less pounds feel like.

I tested this by taking a pic of some dog turds my dog left in the yard

9g of fat
80g of carbs
6g fiber
2g protein.

Seems accurate.

Didn’t realize you’re coming at it from a running perspective. I’m 5’10”ish 170 right now and trying to cut down to 165. Think that would get me optimal for having some muscle and still running respectable times. I’d guess I’m at a 200-300ish calorie per day deficit the past two weeks. Interested in these AI apps and how accurate they are. I’ve never counted macros because I’m too lazy to enter all my food accurately lol.

no offense...but why are you running marathons or trying to be that small?

if its because you like competing....get after that shite, 100% support. if its for health....better off adding muscle.

I enjoy the training with my group. Have a goal of 50 marathons, one in each state. Two years ago I stopped running as much and blood sugar and A1C blew up. All that's under control, but now at 45, I am running into some re-occurring soft tissue injuries that I've never had before and I've been running since middle school.

I much prefer hitting the pavement so I'm never in the gym much, but I will incorporate that as well as the emphasis on nutrition.

I do marathons, halfs, sprint triathlons and all that without really taking the nutrition seriously. If I'm ever going to do an Ironman, which I understand Mingo does one each day as his daily warm up, and get my marathon time down from 3:48 then I'm willing to make the necessary changes. I just assume losing the extra weight with help.

I appreciate you guys.
