Meet the Teacher in high school is stupid

Don’t they want the students to be the points of communication by that age. What’s the point of parents involving themselves meeting teachers still in freaking high school?

Just don't go if you have no interest in building a rapport with your teenager's educators.
A lot of parents like meeting the adults helping to educate and shape some of the worldview of their kids. YMMV

Good way to find out who wants to or is banging your kids.

For parents of a high school boy, it’s an opportunity to meet the mother of their future grandchild.

Yeah, elementary school is where it should end. I just told them my son liked a firm hand instruction wise, and then shut my mouth. But helicopter parents gotta helicopter parent.
You'd probably be shocked at how many texts and emails teachers get from parents...every... damned....day, even in high school.

Why do we need rapport? Teachers and the students both have a job. Do the job, end of story. I don't need to meet you to know you're a weak teacher that's going to get taken advantage of, I'll know it after the second week of school based on assignments, grades, and feedback from my kid.

Many teachers agree but that's why it's only offered and not required.

I’ve been a high school teacher for 17 years. Each year we have this I average 2.5 parent visits for the night. It exists for everyone for the 0.001 % psycho helicopter moms

This is my 21st year. While I am not a fan of them, I can see where a parent of a student that may be moving into the area would want to see to whom and where they are sending their kids. Where I teach though we rarely have new people moving in and most in the community already know me so there is little point. I teach so many siblings as well. Hell, I am at the point I am teaching the students of kids I taught.

No I don’t have a desire to build a rapport with sally the religion teacher that’s a miserable count bag going around measuring skirts all day trying to get 15 year olds in trouble

That's pathetic. My parents never exchanged words with a single one of my teachers from about 6th grade till I graduated high school, unless they happened to be a family friend or a coach.

Where I live it feels like 70% of the moms are psycho helicopter moms, and I'm not even a teacher. I just watch how they act, text, complain. There's a reason the Mexican restaurants are slammed with teachers the first two weeks of school.

You complain 24/7 here
No one buys your tough guy act
Go cook your wife dinner

Are you having a stroke?

Back in the day when teachers were respected because they were good, if you got a spanking at school, you got another one when you got home. It’s a totally different world now.

Aw, I hurt your feelings. You're right I complain all the time. That's the reason I'm here. Go ask your wife to lend you your testicles for a few hours.

I teach high performing students and 90% of my parents show. Baton Rouge High School is the same way. Do the math.

I make it a point to meet my kids teachers. I want to know who is spending 8hrs a day with them. I also want them to know that I give a shite about the future of my kids and that the teacher is welcomed to speak with me directly if there are problems.
