Not here to say what a great coach he was. His unwillingness to adapt and stubbornness to keep certain coaches cost him his job.

But he understood how to build a winning team. He kept recruiting at a high level and I just miss his passion for the program.

I’ll never forget how fired up he had that team when we played Oregon. That game was electric.

I miss how tough his teams were.

They physically mauled into dust any team not named bama.

Les Miles teams were always tough but would run out of gas in November. You were not beating Les on opening day. His teams were ready because of the long practice times and long periods of live practice. The problem is, that he didn’t deviate in the middle of the season from his practice schedule and our guys where tired.

Les had so much real passion for the game, despite not being much of a tactician.

Everything with Kelly seems artificial a like when he banged his fist on the table after USC. That was calculated just for show, as opposed to say Les going off about the “hammer and nail” comment.

That toughness started falling off in 2013 and fell off a cliff at times from 2014 through his firing in 2016. Maybe all of you have forgotten the 2014 State and Auburn games and the 2015 Bama, OM and Arkansas games where we got pushed all over the fricking field on both sides of the ball. I have not.

By that time Alabama dynasty was rolling and he was playing catch up. Trying to do too much.

sure, but that's easy when your OL is athletically superior to most teams on your schedule. It takes no special game planning or tactics to steamroll inferior opponents.

But when we played teams with equal (or close) talent, Les didn't adapt. He just kept pounding the ball off tackle, and that (predictably) didn't work.

That's criminal.

He went to two Nattys, winning one. 90% of all college coaches would sell their first born to accomplish this.

He turned away both RGIII and Dak. Talent evaluation was limited to "who could I bring in to run Toss Dive three consecutive times".

With the talent he had he should’ve played for atleast 4 Nattys. Miles was an idiot and the same people loving him right now are the same people that wanted fired his last 5 years here

He lost control. Be it poor tactics, or stubbornness or baffoonery, we can still say what he was good at. His players loved him. It’s okay to miss aspects of him as a coach.
