Parents read them to you? You learn and recite them?

I made a Jack and the Beanstalk reference to some 20 something year olds. No clue what I was referring to.

Sensing culture difference perhaps.

Got me to thinking, are nursery rhymes a thing anymore?

quote:

A Crow perishing with thirst saw a pitcher, and hoping to find water, flew to it with delight. When he reached it, he discovered to his grief that it contained so little water that he could not possibly get at it. He tried everything he could think of to reach the water, but all his efforts were in vain. At last he collected as many stones as he could carry and dropped them one by one with his beak into the pitcher, until he brought the water within his reach and thus saved his life.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

I think you got your fairy tales confused with nursery rhymes.

Yes, my bad on mixing fairy tales and nursery rhymes.

Fairy tale lost on theses 20 something’s. Wondering if fairy tales and nursery rhymes are part of childhood nowadays.

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey
Along came a spider that sat down beside her, said "EY, WHAT’S IN THE BOWL BITCH?” OH!

Have 3 kids, ages from almost 3, 9, and 12, and we read Aesop's fables to all of them and an old book of nursery rhymes, maybe Paulo's? Also Bible stories. Not sure if they stuck but we try to pass the torch. Just glad they still enjoy reading and enjoy when we read to them with all the tech and distractions.
