Director Spike Lee’s multi-part documentary series for ESPN Films about former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who sparked a national debate when he protested racial injustice nearly a decade ago, will not be released, the filmmaker and ESPN said.

“ESPN, Colin Kaepernick and Spike Lee have collectively decided to no longer proceed with this project as a result of certain creative differences,” ESPN said in a statement to Reuters on Saturday.

“Despite not reaching finality, we appreciate all the hard work and collaboration that went into this film.”

Asked why, the Oscar-winning director declined to elaborate, citing a nondisclosure agreement.

“I can’t. I signed a nondisclosure. I can’t talk about it.”

Didn't ESPN and NFL just get into a multi billion dollar bed together?

Pretty sure spiking this masterpiece was part of that deal.

Most of these views would come from people on this board “accidentally falling on the remote in the doctors office”

Let me save everyone some trouble.

15% of the MSB would have rage watched it

80% of the MSB would have laughed at it.

5% of the MSB would have applauded it and called anyone who disagreed with them racist.

SFP would have been right in the middle saying while he doesn’t agree with all of it, it’s important to have these conversations and Spike Lee was trying to approach this in an honest and unbiased manner.

There is going to be a gambling scandal in the NFL, and the Worldwide Leader will not be all over it.

Creative differences is Code for...this narrative has sailed and Spike is the Captain trying to celebrate scurvy.

A racist director making a film about a racist football player for a racist network. I'm sure it was going to be a masterpiece.

Well the word from a couple podcasts.. It’s because Spike questioned his upbringing… Spike took offense to how he started dressing and the persona he took on… Spike also made a big deal of his girlfriend being Egyptian and speaking on Black American issues… Spike didn’t like the fact it seems they were pointing a finger at other Black NFL players for not taking a stronger stance… Spike at the time it was going on made a comment about kneeling being financially and culturally irresponsible… Kapernick didn’t want to address any of them topics so Spike backed off

Spike probably was in the wrong here

I will never not read his name like Joe Tessitore pronounced it when he was at Nevada.

Yet, he's on TV supporting the communist islamist running for mayor of NYC.

100%

ESPN doesn't care about running a documentary full of lies, but the NFL, who's being brought up, and is the main villain, does.

You're giving the NFL too much credit in being business savvy considering they're currently trying to out-gay the WNBA.
