Are they really gonna pay him that much to not even get snaps in preseason

Not worth trading yet, based on what they would get. I would imagine they are waiting for a QB injury on another team.

They paid him a $10 million roster bonus in March.

Hard to feel sorry for Cousins. He’s a competitor but getting paid big money to sit has to be sweet.

Waiting for a qb injury and a team to need him

Matt Flynn always felt like this was a pretty good deal.

Plenty of teams with dogshit QB situations and still no bites

He has a $40 million cap hit this year. There isn’t a team right now that is going to take on that hit. That could change if a QB gets hurt in a playoff team.

Cousins was overpaid, but the Falcons needed to solidifiy a QB situation. Then Penix fell into their laps, and he played well when called upon because Cousins fell off a table.
KC's contract currently makes him pretty untradeable, but it gives the Falcons serious insurance. Not the absolute worst place to be, but not exactly ideal, either. He won't be on the roster in 2026.

Sounds like a Southern Deal

Falcons probably hoping for something like this to happen

Sam Bradford was 29 when that happened. Cousins is 37. Seems a good bit different.

Just meant that’s what the falcons are hoping for, not than anyone is giving up that level of value for cousins

Agreed, combined with this will be a great draft for the qb position.
