- Gabriel Reliford, Dominick McKinley, Bernard Gooden, Jack Pyburn was the starting DL - Ty Singleton took Whit Weeks’ reps today at linebacker - True frosh Phillip Wright III had an impressive showing in the 1v1’s

Brian Kelly still likes what he has seen from LSU's offensive line, in part because new center Braelin Moore "sets up the rest of the group for success." "This group is going to be really good."

The #LSU Depth Chart is beginning to take shape on defense: DT: Bernard Gooden + Dominick McKinley EDGE: Jack Pyburn + Gabe Reliford LB: Whit Weeks + West Weeks STAR: H. Perkins CB: Mansoor Delane + A. Stamps S: AJ Haulcy + T. Cooley A ways to go, but the consistent 1st Team.

Gotta admire how Stamps has worked his tail off to get where he is, he wasn’t as highly rated out of high school as some of the others, as I recall

Hard to overstate how much better these position groups look from both a talent and depth standpoint compared to the last two years.

I suspect the OL will be pretty good, question is whether it’s far enough along to avoid negative plays (ie false starts, blown assignments) in a noisy and hostile environment on day 1 with a new center and new personnel across the board. Key to the game, and if Davis and Kelly can pull that off, it would be no small feat and I’d be fully convinced this program is on target.

if they are good it will take a few games to build chemistry like we have seen for decades past.

D lines usually win the trench battle in august anyway.

I doubt the o line will be as bad as they predict. I think them looking bad may be because we have a good to decent d line again finally.

Both will play a lot. I have a feeling we will be playing 3 corners at the same time a lot vs Clemson. Delane has taken a lot of reps in the slot. I think the staff knows Clemson has 3 dynamic wideouts and we need to be prepared to play 3 corners to combat them. Stamps and Pickett on the outside with delane in the slot will probably happen a lot

this should be what the floor of an LSU roster is. sage ryan started for 3 years and prob won't touch the field at ole miss. our rosters since O left have been scraped together as much as we can but this is the first year I see stability at every level.

The staff already knows what they have in Durham to this point as well as the roles Berry & Jackson will play. The unknown is Johnson especially if an injury or two occurs, it's important to know what you have there. Even more so, it provides Johnson the opportunity to get up to speed in pass pro which is HIGHLY important but often overlooked.

Well we had an elite O line last year but couldn't run the ball

You had two starters in Moore & Thompson coming in & having to learn an entirely new system & terminology. With Moore at center, the learning curve is even greater being he is the "quarterback" of the line. Adams is the only returning lineman who isn't having to make some sort of adjustment.

I think it just took a few practices for everyone to gel & come together as a unit. Some took that as the unit was awful & that the sky was falling. This is exactly what practice is for. Ironing out wrinkles & getting better. The freaking out about practices & what occurs at practices is utterly ridiculous at times.

Not really the topic of this conversation, but I'll bite. The reason we "couldn't" run the ball last year is because we didn't run the ball.

We had something like a 60% - 40% pass-run ratio last year. There are a lot of reasons for that ratio (e.g. defensive struggles, being down late in games, scheme, QB with arm talent, etc.). But you can't be good at something if you don't do that thing... a lot. Rushing attacks are no different.

Correction, we had elite tackles. Dellinger was solid & knowledgeable. When he got injured against A&M, losing his experience hurt. Chester was a weak link & in over his head. Mubenga was raw & his inexperience showed when he had to be thrown in the line up.
