Ask Yote, his family speaks it. It is sadly a dying language though. Lache pas la patate

ULL of Nichols seems the most likely.

Several groups in New Orleans meet up to preserve french/cajun french/creole. Making a somewhat surprising comeback. Dont believe they are associated with a single university though.

They beat it out of the population about 100 years ago.

LSU offered Cajun French when I was there, I would be surprised if they didn’t still.

Amanda lafleur was a treasure at lsu.

Currently, erin segura is doing a lot for the preservation.

I encourage everyone to view the interviews that the higher level Cajun French students conducted over the years. Some are fascinating.

I could speak quite fluently for a time, alas... I have no one to speak with. I lost my voice first. I was horrified to find recently at Tante Marie in breaux bridge that I've begun to lose my ear as well.

I've started reading my son books and stories in cajun french, but the words are almost...blurry in my head.

I always remember my dad telling me about how they didn’t want kids speaking it in schools. And my great grandparents wouldn’t speak it around him so he wouldn’t learn it.

I don’t know about institutions but Amanda Lafleur deserves a medal for the work she has done. She is a treasure.

I’m not sure how active CODOFIL still is but here is a link to affiliated universities in Louisiana.

My cousin down in Kaplan is fluent. His paternal Grandmother taught him. He's told many fond memories he has of spending time with his Grandmother. He's tried to get local programs funded down there, but you have to have a quorum of so many kids. He told me he actively campaigned for it, but he still fell short like just a couple kids to get the required number of people to sign up their kids for it . He hasnt given up, and He makes sure his little boy can speak it. Im all for it. Louisiana needs to support it at the state level, but it starts at the local community level. It's one of the cultural things that makes it unique.

Sounds like something just spoken buy a few academics and a handful of students.

How long did people actually speak Cajun French in Louisiana before English took over?
