Finally, after years of just telling myself that each PC I built was "good enough" while almost always just a budget or part replacement build, I bit the bullet and just bought a high-end gaming PC. Got a good enough deal that building it wouldn't be much cheaper and able to use it much faster... so now I'm hoping for game suggestions that will really get a chance to show what it can do. I'd really like some suggestions.

Here's what it's got:

Intel Core Ultra 9 285
Nvidia RTX 5080
Nvme WD Blue SN5000 4TB
Crucial Crucial 32GB DDR5 RAM, 4800MH (x2)

Also picked up a 4k monitor; it's 160 instead of as the max but I figured it was still a significant upgrade over my old one and if I want to go up to 240 that's still an option.

Recommendations on games that can showcase what the PC can do?

Alienware PC from Amazon, believe it or not. The PC was $400 off, so it came out even less than if I used the discount my company has with their employee discount program. Comparable in cost to other brands, and a really good rating.

The “Crysis” of 2025 is still Cyberpunk with full ray/path tracing. Nothing I’m aware of has topped it yet.

I'd throw Alan Wake 2 into the mix.

Id also recommend Bodycam for the most uncanny realistic graphic showcase if you’re into FPS shooters.

It's been a while but I used to love playing CoD... I think the last one I played a lot of though was Black Ops II IIRC. I might give it another go.

I loaded it on the new system and told it to run at max settings, but I didn't confirm the settings. It had zero issues, but now I'm curious if it REALLY was maxed out. I'll take a look at it tonight.

I've heard great things about Expedition 33 and is definitely next on my list.

The last two I've only seen brief things about and no opinions. Are they genuinely good games?

I haven’t played recently so I don’t recall, but I would be somewhat surprised if max Ray and path tracing were part of the normal “graphics settings”. Those sliders are normally separate, sometimes in an entirely different menu tab. Just make sure to look for them specifically. And start out with no DLSS and move your way up as needed.

Also, be prepared to be at least mildly disappointed at your frame rate with everything maxed and no DLSS

I haven’t played the last two either, they’re just demanding graphics wise.

Indiana Jones got pretty good reviews. Mafia just released and from most reviews the gameplay is pretty basic but Mafia games have always been more about the story and setting rather than groundbreaking gameplay.

if youre looking to test your PC to see what it can handle then i agree cyperpunk with all full settings is a tough test.

Microsoft flight simulators are also known to be pretty hardware intense.

Indiana Jones is a good enough for a single run through especially if you are a fan. Havent played Mafia TOC but its a return to form of the first two so expect a linear 10-15 hour campaign with a good story, characters, setting but maybe a bit basic in gameplay dept. Cyberpunk 2077 launched rough but its become my favorite RPG. The DLC is even better than the main story imo.

Bf6 beta is out, and its pushing thermals on my rig to max. At this point my performance is being thermal throttled.

Intel 14gen runs so damn hot

I'm starting a whole new game and downloaded the DLC yesterday. I finished it initially, so will probably aim for a different ending this time (and playing on hard difficulty now that it doesn't feel like I'll get killed by my PC)

If you haven't played it since the 2.0 update, you are in for great time. Its so.much better....especially the combat and skill tree upgrade systems.

Cyberpunk with max settings and path tracing on.

With a 5090/7800X3D and DLSS Quality on, I average 200+ frames at 4k

Do you mind providing a link to the Amazon product page?
