I wanted to hate it but the trailer is not that bad. Doing a newspaper is a good idea because those are becoming obsolete too, just like paper was heading that way back when this show started.

I like Domhnall Gleeson. And Oscar seems to have not changed at all.

And Greg Daniels is behind this? My hope is that networks like NBC are starting to realize that PC and woke comedy just is not very profitable. People are DYING for a show like The Office and want to see some offensive shite sprinkled in.

I'll give it a shot.

depends on how political they get with the “news” the paper reports.

I like they went in a totally different direction with "the boss". Instead of Michael Scott or Robert California or Andy Bernard or Dwight Schrute or David Brent...

They seemed to make him the straight man, a normal reasonable guy instead of a character

My hot take is that Tim Key will steal the show. He’s hilarious. Hope he’s not wasted here.

Tires kind of does this.

I think in a way I don't personally like the feel of that. A normal, or the most normal, guy working with a bunch of huge personalities. Feels like the ship is sinking around him and there isn't much he can do at times. Too much background anxiety for a comedy

With the American Office, they originally made Michael just a complete idiot like boss in the British version, but American audiences hated it because they can't stand an incompetent boss. So Michael, despite being a character in a lot of ways, is highly competent. Robert California and Dwight are also professionally competent in their own ways as well. Andy is not, and I think thats a big reason audiences generally hate the period when he is the manager.

Relieved that I didn't see a previously used "type" from The Office, Parks and Rec, Community, etc. (except for Oscar).

It’s woke when they Mary Sue those characters but if they’re normal arse people then it’s fine.

Keep Billy Eichner far from this show.

We've gotten to the point where everything that doesn't have an all-white, all-male cast is considered "woke".

Turns out the SEK's of the world just want to watch a bunch of dudes in the KKK.

There are tons of themes/worldview assumptions that are injected into content thats woke. Its far deeper than race/gender.
