Although created in 1961 by JFK (who would probably roll over in his grave if he saw it now) USAID has spent nearly 23 billion dollars a year since 2001. That’s a total of $552 billion dollars spent on shite that most of it can’t be accounted for.

The interest on that sum is incredible. What would the U.S. Debt be without USAID ?

Yeah but you cannot launder money if you don't have a mechanism to launder it through...

A definite step in the right direction.

What is going to prevent the funding returning in the future?

American voters keeping fricking Democrats out of power would be a great start.

That’s not going to happen so maybe try something else.

Maybe hold Congress accountable and not let them keep raising the debt ceiling? Programs like this can’t be funded without running excess debt.

It’s also not going to help. The rate of increase in the debt, since 2010, has been going up regardless of who held power in the White House or Congress.

Maybe but we need to get the Thune’s, Cassidy’s and Cornyn’s out of DC to ensure they don’t fleece the tax payers!

It's nothing vs our spending. Our budget is 7.3T for 2025.

The real problem isnt the debt its caused, but rather that it enriched many bad actors who in turn weaponized that money to buy politicians

Its a drop in the bucket compared to all the other agencies and depts diverting money for nefarious nonsense.

The frickin EPA thiefing over 20 billion for cronies, what is the military budget thiefing annually 200 billion? What about the dept of labor and its funding of various groups internationally, that OUR dept of labor funding groups outside the US to disrupt govts. And the list goes on and on 435 agencies and depts.....we think we arent even sure of the number.

When we talk about our deficit now the word starts with a "t", not a "b". Shutting down USAID is the right thing to do and it will probably yield outsized results compared to the cost savings, but it's not moving the needle on our spending any more than nuking NPR (which should also get zero federal $$) is.
