Looking for opinions on Polaris Ranger XP 1000 vs Can-Am HD10 XMR after selling my Ranger 2018 Ranger XP 900. Used the 900 to maintain about 100 acres in NETX and will do the same with the new rig - towing deck mower, downed trees, farm work and some rec. Its bottomland and muddy parts of the year so need a capable rig. Have quotes on both which are close. TIA

I'll never go back to canam.
But I will admit they are either perfectly reliable... Or a hunk of shite. My problem is there is never any in between.
We have a few wnclosed unit in our hunting club. A few have had zero issues. A few have not moved in over a year because they have had issues since day one.

Kawi Mule FXT over the Ranger or Csn AM. Owned a Ranger 1000 and Mule. Mule is the more reliable rig. Ranger is faster with a better ride but mine left me stranded twice.

Sorry, that’s all I’ll ever own and I know it’s not on your list.

I'm going to say you have to drive them. I have a 2022 can am hd9 that I like. But the damn thing is so weird getting in drive. You will put it in reverse, give it a little throttle and at 2k or so it will launch, or maybe lung into gear. Just so dang weird. Then it will hit 60 mph no problem rolling down the road. I like it, but I would not buy it again just on that.

I like a tad sportier. My experience only lies with Polaris General and the Can Sm Commander. Both have the bed in back.
I currently own the can am and would go back to the General if funding would allow.
That being said.......a friend helped me hunt in Utah mountains and brought his Ranger out. This guy brought me up and diwn places I would NEVER consider possible. The Ranger never quit.
My $0.02

There’s a thread about a fella wanting to sell a Kawasaki Ranch Edition, see what he wants for it. It’s the thread a tad below or above this one.

I'm on my 2nd Ranger Crew
The first was the 1000xp. I liked that unit it was smooth and the turf option was a nice feature.
A 14 year old on a 4wheeler totaled it. Public trail system blind hairpin, I was creeping, he's was wide open. <-- Just like most of us at 14 years old.
The unit I have now is a 1000xp HighLifter it's posi-traction all the time and geared lower, not as smooth or fast as the one mentioned above. I also like this unit.
The only problems I've had is working with shops/aftermarket upgrades... TIME.

The ranch I hunt in Wyoming has a couple of JD Gators and they are workhorses. Both have heat and AC, one is a gas burner and one is a diesel. They have proven to be reliable and he runs them every day

This is a SXS perfectly summed up. You can get one that is perfect or one that has always had issues. I'm on my second XP1000 crew and I haven't had a single issue yet with either. My buddy bought his on the same day and he's had two issues already.
The 2025 XP rides really good and is super comfortable. The selectable modes is really nice doing different things. I can tow a trailer in work mode or kick it in sport and run down a highway. They did something with the shifter this year and it's way more smooth that prior years.
You can't go wrong with either unit you listed. I would pick simply off price and the dealer.

Have used about all the brands in a utility/farm capacity. All have their pros/cons, but I personally will never go back to anything except the kawasaki mule pro fxt.
My current one has over 13,000 miles on it, regularly maintained, never a problem, but the starter is going to give out before long. I've only had it stuck once, but admittedly I don't go searching for bottomless mudholes in it. I will be spraying a few hundred gallons of imazapyr/ glyphosate with it today.

I figured this would be the case - have heard horror stories and great reviews on both. I put the 2019 ranger through the ringer and wasnt easy on it, but ended up with a rough/squeaky ride and lingering clutch and CVT issues. I am told those (and some sensor issues) have been addressed in the last 6 model years but was also told that by the guy trying to sell me the rig.

But why brother? I ask as a fellow EO.

Bare ground gravel lots/roads. I only have to do it once every 2 to 3 years w the imazapyr in it, plus I have some cogongrass and stiltgrass that needs another round before I hopefully finish it off for good.

might consider the Kubota RTX.
It's a diesel. Might be a tad heavy for bottom land / marshy use though.

I am leaning towards the Ranger - if nothing else because I am familiar with it and am not with the Can-Am. anybody have experience with one of these '25 models?
