So uhhhh could LSU, in theory, take a transfer QB right now that could start the season?

Just asking for no reason

This seems more sad bunch than fun bunch and I don’t like that train of thought

I'm just having a little fun. I assumed it was BS and Nuss was fine
It does highlight how poorly this staff has done at assembling a QB room though, IMO.
Other teams, even in this era, get a highly rated QB almost every year.
The Underwood thing really fricked them

seeing reports that Nuss is fine. most of the major college football instagram accounts have comments on it

I know brother it’s all good me too

Apparently MVB can’t hit his WR’s which is scary. But our 17 year old is apparently going against the grain to stay long term.

Van Buren being so bad in camp is not what I expected. He's started in the SEC.
Camp is camp though, maybe he's just a gamer.
But today highlights just how badly the Underwood thing set them back, and how they are going to need to do way better at the position from here on out.
We are looking at 2 straight classes without a HS recruit at QB and that is tough

You do realize this thread was literally in fun right?

I know you were being facetious but truly I’m high on Hurley. I think if given the chance he will be very good

Don't they also have a 3 star walk on? seems like I remember that.

I mean, Nuss is either the number 1 or number 2 qb when pundits talk about the upcoming draft. You really can’t ask for a better room when that’s the type of talent you have under center.
The portal also makes the future so murky it’s not really worth talking about. The starter on next years team more than likely isn’t on the roster right now

Colin Hurley just turned 18. He was class of 2025.

Please give me the names of the backup QBs in the SEC that would be acceptable to you. We are the only team that has a guy with starting experience in the league.

Hurley looked pretty good for his age, too.

Van Buren completed 54% of his passes after being thrown into action last year as a freshman, that’s not bad accuracy considering the circumstances. Also he averaged 7.4 ypa so it would seem it wasn’t just checkdowns he was completing either. His inaccuracy issues right now could just stem from new team and new system. I’d expect he gets better as season progresses and he gets comfortable. I’m not giving up on him yet as a potential player next year yet.

It's also only been 1 class(2025) that we didn't sign a high school QB, and we got a true sophomore in the portal.
So we've got a sophomore and a redshirt freshman.
Kinda funny that MVB is 3 full years older than Hurley.

quote:This is just patently false. Aside from a couple teams, ie Texas last year, and Nuss behind Daniels here...you dont see highly regarded, talented QBs just riding the pine. It does not happen, I would venture that 70% of competitive programs are in our position in regard to backups and they dont have a Heisman contender starting. I like our room.

Nuss, Hurley is highly skilled, Van Buren had 8 starts for an SEC team.
