The Southeastern Conference unveiled its 144-game men’s basketball schedule for 2026 on Wednesday, including the 18 dates of play for the LSU Tigers.

Conference play tips off on Saturday, Jan. 3 and concludes Saturday, March &, with what the league is calling “Rivalry Saturday,” featuring several traditional league rivalries. The SEC Tournament returns to Nashville at Bridgestone Arena will host the event March 11-15, 2026

Each SEC team plays the other 15 teams at least once during league play. Three teams will be played a second time during the schedule – two which are permanent opponents and one that changes each year.

For LSU the permanent opponents are Texas A&M and Arkansas with this year’s third home-and-away opponent, South Carolina.

The Tigers will open the SEC slate on the road on Jan. 3 at Texas A&M before its first home league game at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, Jan. 6 or 7 against South Carolina.

the early part of the sec schedule is actually doable this season
if they can get out to a good start in sec play might be some hope for this team

The only positive I see on the schedule is that we don't have to play Auburn until the end of the year. Pearl's teams always start conference play like a house on fire and then lose some head scratchers late. But this most likely won't be applicable to us.

fastlane ...perfect post man..

We have a roster built for losses...it's the last year for Coach McLoser and that's exciting.

According to what? We get to play USC twice but thats about it.

Sat. 3 – At Texas A&M- lost twice, 5th in SEC
6 or 7 – SOUTH CAROLINA- pillow fight
Sat. 10 – At Vanderbilt- Lost, middle of the pack
13 or 14 – KENTUCKY- lol
Sat. 17 – MISSOURI- Lost, top 3rd/middle of the pack
20 or 21 – At Florida- lol
Sat. 24 – At Arkansas- lol
27 or 28 – MISSISSIPPI STATE- lost twice, middle of the pack
Sat. 31 – At South Carolina- tougher pillow fight

Beginning isnt too much better. We play

@Vandy
UK
Mizzou
@UF
@Arky

At best I see maybe 2 wins during this stretch, but 0-5 here is a real possibility.

I see a 1-6 start to conference play with the lone win being South Carolina (the program that is McMahon’s biggest PR asset).

Of course, we’ll probably drop a few OOC games by then so the first five games of SEC play will already knock us out of any tourney talk by late January. Another failed and fruitless season.

I can’t wait for a new coach. Forcing the fans to watch yet another year of this dreadful product is criminal.

No sport is more volitale year to year than CBB. Because of the significant roster turnover every team experences now, results from a season ago don't have a ton of meaning

New HC and doesn't return a single player from last year's roster.

quote:

6 or 7 – SOUTH CAROLINA- pillow fight
It's at home, which should favor LSU.

quote:

Sat. 10 – At Vanderbilt- Lost, middle of the pack
Lost most of their production. Not traditionally a program that "reloads".

quote:

13 or 14 – KENTUCKY- lol
A home game give you a fighting chance.

quote:

Sat. 17 – MISSOURI- Lost, top 3rd/middle of the pack
Same as above

quote:

20 or 21 – At Florida- lol
Loss

quote:

Sat. 24 – At Arkansas- lol
Somehow McMahon knows how to coach against Cal

quote:

27 or 28 – MISSISSIPPI STATE- lost twice, middle of the pack
Seemingly always a bad matchup for McMahon...but it's at home

quote:

Sat. 31 – At South Carolina- tougher pillow fight
Will be picked to finish at the bottom with LSU.

Like I said, LSU is going to be picked to finish between 13-16. There are no "easy" games for McMahon. But of the other possible options, road games at A&M, Vandy and South Carolina are about as "favorable" as one could ask for. Then you have 4 home games.

Is it an easy schedule? No. But, on paper, it's about as "easy" as reasonably possible.

You are absolutely right. The only consistency is that we still have a shitty coach.

This is new this year? Thanks SEC for giving us the other worst team in the league

Before Texas and OU joined, LSU had three permanent home and home opponents - Alabama, Arkansas, A&M. Last year Alabama dropped off that list. Ole Miss was LSU's rotating 2x opponent last year.

This year either South Carolina or LSU will be picked to finish last in the league. So I guess in that respect LSU couldn't get a better 2x opponent.

The non-conf schedule again looks like a giant turd. The "notable" games are:

@ Boston College
Drake (Emerald Coast Classic)
DePaul or Georgia Tech
SMU (neutral site in New Orleans)

McMahon has always scheduled bad mid-major opponents, so unless there is a major conf. opponent (or two) out there we haven't heard about, this could be one of the weakest non-conf. schedules McMahon has put together (only his 1st season being worse)

Assuming there isn't another big name non-conf opponent coming, if LSU gets to SEC play with anything more than 2 losses, then they may as well fold up shop.
