The one in Jennings closed last week. I heard a casino bought the franchise. Is there any truth to this? What casino?

The boiled crawfish there was always on point, but the poboys left a lot to be desired. Would opt for Bourbon Street Deli or C’est Bon in Mermentau instead if looking for a poboy in that area.

If true, I doubt they would close the one in LC, even if bought out by someone. That place prints money. Hopefully ownership is the only change and all the food stays the same.

The only company that would buy that place is a mayonnaise manufacturer. I got a Darrell’s Special one night after someone said I had to go there when in LC. Most putrid sandwich I’ve had in my life. I asked for light mayo. One would have thought I’d asked for a mayonnaise sandwich. I bet there was 1/2 cup of mayo on the damned thing. I can eat a light spread of mayo, but that sandwich was disgusting.

Its considered heresy on here but Darrel's poboys are overrated.
And buy a fryer for gods sake.

Correct. The one and only time I ate there, I ordered a shrimp poboy. I was shocked when it came out boiled.

They need to sell french fries, but I'll be damned if I'm going to sit here and listen to you poor mouth the Surf-and-Turf. I just won't have it.

Bingo. It's good for a lunch sandwich, but it in no way deserves the hype it gets here.

If a 1/4” of mayo oozes from the side of the sandwich when gently pressed, can we all agree it’s gotten extreme?

I agree this is the most over-hyped place and sandwich I've ever eaten...It's simply gross. Who the frick wants that much mayo on a sammich...and no fries? GTF outta here. Darrells sucks.

Why not just play it safe and ask for no mayo if too much will ruin a meal for you?

Darrells wouldn't renew his contract unless he did somethings he didn't want to do. He will still be open for crawfish season under a new name.

That's like going to Central Grocery and getting a Reuben, and then complaining about how Central Grocery is overrated because you didn't like the sandwich that they are not even known for.
