People jerked their wieners over that piece of crap Romulus (the most obnoxious member berry movie of all time)

Romulus was just okay.

But I’m pumped and cautiously optimistic about this show.

Romulus was crap.

There are two very good Alien movies and one decent one. Everything else is crap.

It takes place 2 years before Alien right? Curious to see how that works out.

I liked Romulus quite a bit - although it was behind only Ghostbusters:Afterlife in terms of "member berry" movies. And using AI to bring back dead actors is gross.

Alien and Alien 3. And then Aliens.

I agree.

But I actually like the first AVP. Way more fun than it should’ve been. And I’m on the camp that liked Prometheus. It’s not awesome or anything but I really liked it.

Covenant wasn’t very good. Romulus wasn’t very good (though it has some cool parts). Alien Resurrection was decently fun, but not very good. AVP:Requiem was trash.

Romulus sucked. I much prefer Prometheus & covenant over it.

ETA: I knew this series was announced, but forgot about it and didn’t see the casting until now. Essie Davis is an underrated af Aussie actress. She’s been fantastic in everything I’ve seen. Trailer looks great.

Meet me at Sonic.

Romulus was fricking awesome and is the third best movie in the Alien universe. It nails the atmosphere of Alien and Aliens.

Yep.

I will try to retain some regard for your movie opinions after this, but it will be difficult.

My stance on Alien 3 is well documented on this board. And I stand by it.

Especially considering the source of the above quote.

And Prometheus was good. Just because some people didn’t like the answers to some of their questions doesn’t mean it sucks. Is it a top tier Alien movie? Of course not. But I enjoyed it.

I dig Alien 3. It's just not as good as 1 or 2.

I was very clear about why Prometheus sucks in my review at the time, and it had little to do with answered questions I didn't like.

Glad to see this board coming to their senses on Romulus. The only good part of that movie was the black actor playing the synthetic. And even then he had to give that terrible cringe line towards the end

I assume it had to do with the dumb decisions some of the characters made. And if so I won’t disagree with that. But that didn’t really bother me enough to not be able to sit back and enjoy it.

No, it was more than that, but I haven't watched the movie since so I can't remember it all.

One of my beefs, however, was that it had too many characters. It felt like some, especially CT, got cast as a favor because they have pull in Hollywood. They could have lost at least 3 superfluous characters and the story would not have changed a bit.

She was the worst part of the movie for sure. And I love CT.

fincher getting saddled with that mess is sad. retconning newt and hicks was criminal and they began filming without a finalized version thanks to constant studio meddling. alien 3 shouldve been Aliens: Earth War with all 3 survivors returning to earth and finding it swamped with the things. the comics version of events is much better than what 3 and resurrection came up with.

like a moth to a flame i keep finding myself feeling hopeful that this series goes where i want it to and ups the scale. no more threat of "what if these things got out?". no more derelict spacecraft or remote planets. its gotta go new places. i guess im trying to say im ready to be hurt again.

tldr Alien 3 shouldve been what the comics came up with

IIRC William Gibson wrote the original Alien 3 script and they actually did come up with a comic based off it. It wasn’t anything about an earth war though
