Did your mom leave you in car to run in to store growing up?

I remember being maybe 10 or so and mom just running in for milk or whatever and me telling her Ill just wait in car.
Obviously this didnt happen in the summer when it was hot. And it didnt happen when I was very young
But now every karen call the cops when they see a kid in a car on a cool day.
Feel like I had good loving parents but maybe my mom was a monster idk, seemed like no big deal at the time

Our generation's moms were staying in the car and sending us in the store for their pack of Virginia Slims.

Yep. And I would lay down when what I thought looked like sketchy people would walk or drive by so they wouldn't see me in the car and try to kidnap me.

It's not about it being hot in the car in the same way as leaving pets. It's about the prominence of child abductions. While I think calling the cops is ridiculous, I also think parents should not leave their young children alone in cars given all that we know about child abductions and trafficking.
Maybe it was just as bad back in the 80s when my mom would leave me for a few moments and we just didn't know about it. But now we do know better, so we as parents need to take that extra effort to protect our children from the demons looking to prey upon them.

It happens for sure but isnt that common
And the kids are locked in and understand stranger danger

I have fond memories of being in charge of the radio while dad left all four of us kids alone in the (running) truck while he made 15-30 minute stops into Lowe's

Gen X was about that life. My mother did it. My father did it. Hell, I rarely rode with any other adults, but some of them did it.

i leave my kids in the car if i'm going to be in for less than ten minutes. i lock the door and leave the truck running. they know not to open the door for anyone.
i also live in Mandeville, so context matters. i wouldnt do that in the city.
