I'm always late catching up on a conspiracy, whether it was 9/11, JFK assassination, or the moon landing.

I was cruising X this morning and found one I'd not heard of. So, I'm tapping into the TD Braintrust on this one.

It was interesting and somewhat compelling that there is and has been a conspiracy theory about the 1986 Challenger explosion floating around. One theory about it is that there never was any passengers aboard and that no one died. Of course, Snopes attempted to dispel it but the conspiracists have some interesting points and claim all but one of the dead are still alive and living their lives.

What sayeth thee, OT?

the moon landing.

The moon isn't real.

If that's the case, we need to rename a bunch of schools and bridges and shite.

To what purpose? Why would 7 people pretend to be dead just to live anonymously?

There’s a conspiracy theory for literally every major event. Nothing can just “happen” anymore.

Given that the government has told many, many lies, and hidden the truth from us about many, many things, why would it be surprising that this might be another event where things aren't what we were told?

Could you imagine the mindfrick of being one of those not dead astronauts? You go out in a blaze of glory trying to escape the bounds of flat Earth, you're mourned and celebrated the world over, you have random shite named after you, and the country remembers your name forever.

When in reality you die at the age of 74 from falling off a step ladder whilst trying to get the crockpot out of the top of the cupboard.

They didn’t die in the explosion. The passenger capsule blew clear and intact as seen on the videos. They died when it crashed at terminal velocity into the ocean. That’s worse and more frightening than dying from massive explosion.

That’s one thing NASA doesn’t tell you.

I think those poor astronauts are all dead

But I think it was done on purpose because the space program was a scam and since a civilian was allowed to go on that Challenger mission for the first time and it just so happened the first fatal in flight mission happened??- the government couldn’t let anyone know none of that stuff wasn’t real

So, “faulty o-rings”

I sound like a lunatic. I was 5 when I watched that on TV.

People have become incalculably stupid, stubborn, and demented. It never ceases to amaze me.

That doesn’t mean they didn’t recover the remains.

Not sure what is supposed to make this conspiracy “compelling”

You would have to be a brain dead moron to believe some of the conspiracy theories that are on the Internet.

they did recover remains - I didn’t say they didn’t

But the military pathologists took the remains and cremated them all together. I personally do not think the astronauts are alive, but for nutty conspiracy theorists- that can sound pretty suspect.

Many reports say the astronauts were alive until the cabin hit the water. That’s terrifying.

While this is true, they were likely unconscious on the way down.

They all died but the explosion was no surprise, sadly just a foregone conclusion.
