Son is a PWO offensive tackle, Hayes Fuqua. He reported in May 24th to athletic dorm and they did measurables at 6’6” 277. He played offensive tackle at West Monroe his senior year at 255. Lots to learn as he only moved to oline for the one year. Will Campbell took time out of his busy schedule to talk on phone to let him know what to expect once he made it to BR. Very appreciative. Hayes always played on defensive side. He knew he had to put weight on before he made it there. He just texted me he’s at 300 now. Said Davis even told him he looked big today, lol. That is incredible to me the science, the knowledge, and the know how the staff at LSU has to put the weight on in a good way with these kids in such a short period. He’s still small comparatively with the guys he competes with. It’s pretty cool hearing the back stories of how nice Tyree has been to him and what freak athletes Carius and Weston are and their athletic abilities. Bordelon brothers have been cool too. Bo staying after practice helping Hayes with some techniques even though he didn’t have to. We have some great young men on this team. He’s such the low man on the totem pole so to speak but very proud and humbled to be at LSU where Dad and older sister attended and graduated from. He’s very thankful to be a part, he’s a hard worker and not afraid to compete and mix it up. Wanted to share from a different perspective I guess. Graduated from LSU in 92’, Chicken and I were in same fraternity. Brian has a tremendous site he developed here that we all enjoy and have for many years. Like the way the current team is shaping up and the depth they have that they seem to have been lacking. Anyway, Geaux Tigers!!!
Need that Clemson game win to set us on a good path and start to the season.

Hell yea. Tigerdroppings brings more and more basement dwellers out yearly, but stories like this are legit CSB. Congests and good luck to your son.

Congrats, my man. Hope your son shocks the world and claws his way to an NFL career, if that's what he wants. I'm sure you've told him to make the most of his time at LSU. Study hard and practice hard.

How good was your son in high school?

I hope they figure out how to keep walk ons apart of the college teams. It takes a lot for a kid to keep following his dreams on his dime. Good luck you never know where the road will lead.

He had a great Sr year, Was a team captain at West Monroe as we originally were from Ruston, kind of like outsiders moving over. At Ruston, we knew all those kids and families as they had a great run with Coach Baugh and Kyle. Coach Sumrall at Tulane brought us up last summer at camp and offered him as a defensive end. I told him West Monroe had just moved him to offensive tackle in Spring. Kind of an under the radar player with nice upside would be a fair assessment of Hayes. He’s very aggressive. Just needs to put weight on and keep getting stronger. Athletic for his size.
