I also prefer Returns. Like the Christmas setting, winter and snow.

That said, it was insane what they let Burton put into what was supposedly a movie for kids. Some very dark scenes, and shockingly overt BDSM themes between Catwoman and the Penguin. Also she puts a live bird in her mouth.

Parents be forewarned if you're bringing your kids to this, there is a lot that will seem extreme by 2025 standards. Same with 1989 Batman, lot of very disturbing stuff. That news lady smiling from the laughing gas.

The marketing, merchandising and McDonald's Happy Meals gave everyone the idea that it was for kids. Also it's a superhero movie. But it was too horrific.

No, I'm right. Returns is a dark movie, not every kid should see it. It's like the difference between the 2023 Super Mario Bros. movie and the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie. Lot of off-putting stuff in that movie too.

McDonald’s was super pissed to be sure, as was Kenner. There was a reason WB asked Tim to step aside for the third film—lost revenue from pissed off parents.

Overall, I love Returns, but I don’t like the setting the dude on fire sequence or putting the bomb on the dude sequence because it gies against Batman’s code of no killing.

Tim did several things in the first film too that were contrary to what Batman is, but I love the hell out of both of these films.

Great performances by Keaton, Nicholson, Walken, and Devito. The setting in these movies always relaxes me.

Pee Wee Herman has a small scene in Return as well. Try to spot him.

Yeah, I watched that documentary too. Burton said you fired me for making it too dark and then you put nipples on the bat suit.

I was 11 when Batman Returns came out. It wasn’t too dark for kids, it was great.

Batman forever on the other hand is one of those nostalgic movies that I know is a very bad movie but I kinda still like it.

No, GFY. Please, go ahead and bring a little girl or even a sensitive boy to this movie and watch them start crying from the horrific s*** in it. Psychopaths.
