Why do mods anchor threads?

Is this a board of censorship? I understand the pron bombs getting nuked, but if you don't agree with something you just delete or anchor. SO SAD!

This board is a private enterprise. If the owner or his designated representatives believe that a topic will bring negative attention to said enterprise, it gets anchored.
