Better yet do it with him. I know it’s an OT flex to have a lawn guy but I got to say I have seen such a positive change in my 11/12 yr son since we have started to cut the lawn together. Obviously it’s some what hard given the heat but there is a nice sense of accomplishment looking over a freshly cut lawn with your son.

Added bonus is he now has some motivation to cut grass to earn some extra $. Honestly there is a lot of $$ to be made by just asking the neighbors who will gladly pay a kid instead of a lawn service.

I do my own yard work. And in 12 years when my son is old enough he will do it.

Candy-arse kid. Give him the pressure washer and point him towards the driveway.
Seriously, good job, dad

While you and your son are mowing me and little Jaxtyn are taking extra reps in the cage preparing our 4th World Series Championship Bowl this summer.

Suck it.

I mow, weedeat and use a backpack blower for the clippings every weekend (except we had some rain this week and I did all the yardwork yesterday

When I first bought the house, I didn't have any equipment and hired a guy to do the first cut. I got small yard, take me maybe 1 hour to do everything above , he said he'd charge 60 per week and I told him no thanks.

Many of our problems of today could be solved if more kids had chores and responsibilities like the OP suggests. Extra points for working together.

Love cutting my own grass. Always have. Zero turn mower certainly makes it more enjoyable.

My neighbor two doors down recently started making his nine year old kid cut the grass. Fairly good size yard and he has him out there with a self propelled. Kids hands are stretched all the way up in the air to push the mower. Dad just sits there on the front porch and watches. I love it, it's pretty comical to see.

My neighbor has a teen age son and I have never seen him do yard work once. I don’t get it.

My 14yo will happily ride on the mower. He hates to weedeat.

I agree. Something cathartic about the process.

I had my own lawn mowing business at 10 years old. Mow and edge for 5 bucks.

There is money to be made for teenagers cutting grass for sure. I was loaded back in high school just doing a few yards around the neighborhood a week
