Good morning, folks.

Steve walks warily down the street
With the brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet
Machine guns ready to go.

Y'all have a big day. And coffee.

Gooooooood morning baws and bawettes!

This day in history:

1540
English Lutheran clergyman Robert Barnes was burned as a heretic after being used by Thomas Cromwell and King Henry VIII to gain European support for their antipapal movement.

1619
In Jamestown, Virginia, the first elected legislative assembly in the New World—the House of Burgesses—convenes in the choir of the town’s church.

1777
Brigadier General George Clinton, takes office as the first elected governor of the independent state of New York. Clinton would go on to become New York’s longest-serving governor, as well as the longest-serving governor in the United States, holding the post until 1795, and again from 1801 to 1804. In 1805, he was elected vice president of the United States, a position he held under Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, until his death in 1812.

1863
American industrialist and automobile manufacturer Henry Ford, who revolutionized factory production with his assembly-line methods, was born in Michigan.

1864
At the Battle of the Crater, the Union’s ingenious attempt to break the Confederate lines at Petersburg, Virginia, by blowing up a tunnel that had been dug under the Rebel trenches fails. Although the explosion created a gap in the Confederate defenses, a poorly planned Yankee attack wasted the effort and the result was an eight-month continuation of the siege.

1866
During the turbulent Reconstruction era after the Civil War, white resistance to African American citizenship turns violent in New Orleans when a white mob kills dozens of African Americans gathering to support a political meeting.

1921
Insulin was first isolated as a pancreatic extract by the Canadian scientists Sir Frederick G. Banting and Charles H. Best.

1930
Uruguay defeated Argentina to win the first World Cup in football (soccer).

1936
Blues musician Buddy Guy, who was noted for his slashing electric guitar riffs and passionate vocals, was born in Lettsworth, Louisiana.

1942
Frank Sinatra sang with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in his last recording before venturing on a solo career.

1945
The USS Indianapolis was sunk this day in 1945 by a Japanese submarine shortly after delivering the internal components of the atomic bombs that were later dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Some 900 men died, many of whom succumbed to shark attacks, dehydration, and salt poisoning as they awaited rescue.

1956
The phrase “In God we trust” legally became the national motto of the United States.

1965
U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed amendments to the Social Securities Act (1935) that established Medicare and Medicaid.

1966
The three-chord masterpiece “Wild Thing” became a #1 hit for The Troggs, instantly earning a place in the rock 'n' roll canon.

1971
A mid-air collision between a Boeing 727 and a fighter jet in Japan kills 162 people on July 30, 1971. The military plane was flying without radar.

1974
Under coercion from the U.S. Supreme Court, President Richard M. Nixon releases subpoenaed White House recordings—suspected to prove his guilt in the Watergate scandal—to special prosecutor Leon Jaworski. The same day, the House Judiciary Committee voted a third article of impeachment against the president: contempt of Congress in hindering the impeachment process. The previous two impeachment articles voted against Nixon by the committee were obstruction of justice and abuse of presidential powers.

1975
Former Teamsters president Jimmy Hoffa disappeared in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, under mysterious circumstances.

1976
American Caitlyn Jenner—who was competing as Bruce Jenner —wins gold in the men's decathlon at the Montreal Olympics. Jenner's 8,617 points set a world record in the event.

1999
The Blair Witch Project, a low-budget, independent horror film that will become a massive cult hit, is released in U.S. theaters.

2003
The last of 21,529,464 Volkswagen Beetles built since World War II rolls off the production line at Volkswagen’s plant in Puebla, Mexico. One of a 3,000-unit final edition, the baby-blue vehicle was sent to a museum in Wolfsburg, Germany, where Volkswagen is headquartered.

2004
The cult-classic stoner comedy "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" is released. The Columbus, Ohio-based hamburger chain reportedly sees sales rise 30 percent the following week.

Hope everyone has a happy hump day!

Good Morning Humans:gmt;
Happy Wednesday!

Hitting 3rd gear and getting down the road quick today is the plan. A few items to double check the to-do list and it’s on like a Donkey Kong, fueled bender.

Y’all kick arse and make good things happen.
