The "worst weather of the year" - up North vs down South

Been lots of chatter lately about the heat wave across the south and other parts of the country, and when I lived in Chicago and talked about moving to South Carolina a lot of people talked about the heat and how unbearable it was. Probably safe to say that most would say this is the "worst weather of the year" here.

But I had a suspicion that even with really hot weather down here I would still be able to be outside and doing fun things. Let's compare the two:

"Worst weather" of the year in Charleston; over the last four days I have:

- Hung out by the pool and went swimming
- Sat on my balcony at night and drank some beers and listened to tunes
- Sat on my balcony in the morning for a few hours working
- Spent the entire day on the water drinking beers, swimming, hanging out on the beach, cruising the ICW
- Sat outside at a beer garden
- Went to an outdoor concert

"Worst weather" of the year when I lived in Chicago; this would be those mid-winter days where there was little sunlight temps would be in single digits or teens with a single digit windchill I would:

- Do nothing outside, moving as quickly between two heated indoor places as I could

So my theory has been proven correct. I like being outside and do that year round these days

tl;dr I'll take the worst weather of the South over the worst weather up North
