Would you consider Payton Turner one of the worst Saints busts?

Obviously, we all know Payton Turner was a bust with the Saints. Never came close to living up to his 1st round pick status. Where would you rank him with the worst 1st round busts of the Saints? He never started a game and only appeared in 31 games over 4 seasons.

Saints Stats

5 sacks
2 forced fumbles
11 TFL
50 combined tackles

I get he was a late 1st rounder, but still a 1st rounder.

Top 5, shares infamy with Erxleben, Jonathon Sullivan, Shawn Knight, Stephane Anthony, etc. There are so many busts in this franchise.

We have had a lot but he's not the worst. Jonathan Sullivan (2003 NFL Draft), we gave up a 17th and 18th pick in the first round and a 54th pick in the second round to move up.

I remember wanting us to draft Polamalu and we took that fat slob instead. He is number 1.

Gotta also be one of the most under the radar busts as well. Everyone was so concerned with the shear quantity of 1sts we gave up to get davenport; i feel like Payton turner avoided alot of heat and just dissappeared comparatively.

No. frick no. Ya'll need to look up some shite that happened before Finks got hired and finally turned the Saints into an actual professional organization. In 1982 the Saints used the supplemental draft to pick Dave Wilson, who would go on to throw 36 Tds and 55 Ints in his career. The pick they lost in the common draft became 3rd overall and two Hall of Famers went later in the top 10. With the 13th pick of that draft the Saints picked Lindsay Scott, who averaged about 220 receiving yds a season in his 4 yr career and had 1 TD.

With Gayle in the Captain’s Chair these new generation of Saints fans get to experience life in the Mecom regime.

Rita is bitter because she had it handed to her on a silver platter and she tried to snort it. Imagine losing the chance of a lifetime and being in the Owners 32 club. Wow set for life and Goldi errrr Rita literally blows it. Must be devastating to her.

I’d put Davenport above Stephane Anthony but I can see the argument either way. I was actually excited for the Anthony pick

Still owns 30% and Moreno will be Mayor soon. Never say never, those charges in Charleston aren’t going to stick.

Nothing will ever be as bad as 1979 first round pick…. In 1979, Erxleben was drafted in the first round (11th pick overall) by the New Orleans Saints, listed as both a kicker and a punter. He is still the highest drafted punter of all time
