Anybody gone to Gretna Fest before?

My group Maw Maw is playing it for the first time, should be a good time.

Gretna Fest is a great time. It's very well laid out and organized, and the kids section is free with plenty for them to do. We didn't get to go last year, but we definitely will this upcoming one, especially with the great JJ Grey playing.

That's good news - we're playing early on Saturday and my kids will finally get to see us play. I'm a JJ Grey fan too - we do some of the swampy/soulful/groovy thing too so if you're around come check us out

That's fantastic. What a cool moment to get to play on stage in front of your children.

JJ is playing Sunday, so we definitely will be there. What's your band?

ETA: uhhhhh nevermind. I just saw your typing underneath the picture. Yeah bud we will definitely come see yall play

I would like to come, but Jefferson Parish probably has a warrant for me.

Ha heard that - you'll have to keep an ear out, though. I just wrote a song that's bound to be on the next record called "Opelika"

I'm just about finished listening to your album, and I dig it. Yall do a good job of keeping each song unique in its own right while also being engaging.

Funny you say you're a JJ fan, because Living in a Timeshare is oozing his style and influence. I also get some Shins on one of your tracks, and definitely I hear some old school NOLA Jazz ala Dr John on a couple.

You ever listen to Neal Francis? He's legit, and he plays that old school NOLA Jazz. I hear some similarities between yall, and that's a good thing.

Keep it up; I think yall have a good sound.

Dude, thanks for listening! Really appreciate that.

Yea - def love all the influences you mentioned. Neil Francis does the best "toussaint sound" since Allen himself imo.

We've got more planned coming up, the band and our songwriting has found a bit of a groove so we're gonna ride the wave.

yeah like MDS said, Gretna Fest is a really great event. You’ll have a blast

And that lineup is way better than years past when they’ve rolled out every geriatric classic rock band that still has a pulse. I dig it

I first read this as Greta Fest.

Imagine all the angry pissed off artists playing on the bill.

Really great stuff, SpyBoy! And I love that you named your band after my grandma! (Seriously...she was Maw Maw).

Any idea which day you guys play? I don't think the daily lineup is out yet.

That is what we say: named after ya maw maw!

The record should probably show it comes from my 91 years young grandmother in Algiers in the Best bank, baby. Im hoping she'll get to see us for the first time for this too.

I went to a free open air concert at a park in Gretna in 1974. Was one of my first and it is memorial in that I just casually walked on the stage right behind the drummer while Pure Prairie League was playing their hit song Aime.
