Going with a friend to the FedEx St Jude in Memphis in a few weeks. Looking for any tips, good holes to watch, or must see/do while I am at the tourney or around the Hilton in east Memphis

I've been to Memphis before but really only done Beale Street, so any good restaurants in that neck of the woods would be appreciated too

BBQ wise there’s Central BBQ like half a mile from your hotel that’s never let me down.

The original Commissary in downtown Germantown is really good BBQ too.

Memphis is usually a day trip for us, so I haven’t kept up with the dinner scene. It’s been a couple years since we had dinner in the city. We went to Porch & Parlor and it was excellent.

Bbq shoppe on Madison is the best. Get the sandwich on Texas toast. Central is also great.
Cooper young area is a good hang out spot for bars and food.

We usually stay at the Peabody, so eating at Rendezvous is a given.

Oh yeah, try not to get killed…

If Ping releases a new Limited Edition St Jude’s Hoofer Bag be sure to order one. It’s a great fundraiser for the cause. They are normally released the week of the tournament before Thursday.

Got one 4 years ago, still looks good and the money all goes to St. Jude; win-win.

Hole 9 is good watch. The island green at the short par 3 11th and the long par 3 (14) are always interesting and 18 is a brute. Southwind always has the most water balls on any tour stop by a large margin.

Bog and Barley is a cool new Irish Pub very close to the Hilton. The recommendations of Central and Commissary are good. Andrew Michael in east Memphis is great (Italian). Ronnie Grisanti's (Italian) is next to Bog and Barley. There is a restaurant group that owns Southern Social in Germantown, Flight (downtown), Porch and Parlor (midtown) and Coastal Fish Co (Shelby Farms). The food at all of them is great. Can't go wrong. Folk's Folly is the local prime steakhouse (East Memphis) but there is also Capital Grille, Ruth's Chris and Fleming's all within a quarter mile of that Hilton. Overton Square area in midtown is nice too...several restaurants there. Feeling adventurous for BBQ, you could always venture to Cozy Corner or Payne's. Interstate BBQ is good as well. Tom's BBQ has been on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives before and the BBQ Shop has some outstanding BBQ spaghetti. Skybox Bar and Grill on the west end of Collierville is a good spot for bar food and a nice bar scene. Just local bar grub, another spot(s) is Huey's. Nothing special but decent price on food and drinks. There are several locations around the city.

I used to live right by that hotel. If you like fish, Humdingers is a great fast casual spot.

Aughter and her fiance live in Memphis and are members at the TPC. His advice is buy merch on Wednesday or Thursday. He said not a whole.lot of secrets to viewing the tourney. Avoid the sun as much as possible.

Coastal Fish Company is great, if reservations are available. If downtown, try The Green Beetle. Great pub food and staff/regulars. Tell them Brooke's dad recommended.

Also, if parking along the trolley route, make sure your vehicle is 100% in the parking lane. The trolley drivers are a pain in the arse.

Always go to The Commissary when I go to the tourney. It is a favorite spot for the players, so you usually get up close and personal with several tables with players and caddies.

In 2008 my g/f was talking about several players, and she asked me if one of the players across the way would give her his autograph. Lee Westwood was sitting about 3 feet from her, and he said. "You can have my autograph." She looked at him and said, "Are you playing in the tournament?" The other 3 golfers at the table went nuts that she didn't recognize him.

Is anyone else rooting for Fleetwood to finally get his first win on tour?
