Just an abysmal report and city. A short few years after hiring Fazio and renovating its back to a dump like most of the golf in Louisiana.

I was honestly kinda caught off guard the shape it was in

Isn’t this what the North course is always known for? All the money goes to the South course.

Conditions are the only thing they can usually hang their hat on. I used to really like playing out there, but it’s pretty unforgettable as far as layout. Trying to drive the green at 16 is probably my favorite thing. Other than that it’s fine. Hope they can get it under control, but most South La courses are in that kind of shape this time of year.
I’ll add that it might be the worst greens of all time as far as people fixing pitch marks. Too much play and no one fixes a thing.

Understand, but regardless of the layout you would think they could keep in similar condition.

Every time I mention how shitty/uninspiring City Park is I get downvoted. For the amount of money they spent it’s almost criminal that it’s so boring. One “drivable” par 4 that really isn’t from the blue tees, no fun short par 3, greens are all pretty flat except for 18…I play it a lot because it’s 2 minutes away but all it does is make me wish the old East course was still around

Usually I at least feel the value is there because it’s in good shape. But it’s the most boring course I can think of.
The value was even shite this time

I can’t say I’ve ever had this experience at the south course, it’s always been in good shape anytime I’m out there.
Only thing I can see is the rain means they haven’t been able to work on it.

Pretty sure it's rained almost everyday for the last month. Pretty severe at times making it hard to keep.

Man, what great memories and track though you were walking 18 with hole 9 not at clubhouse.
Loved the loop on the holes S of Harrison and the back to back par 5s coming in along Wisner were great.
New Orleans and the park really screwed up with $millions in FEMA for what we have today. I expect LIV to be a disaster out there.

I grew up playing all those old courses and it was fun. Started playing on the 9 hole junior course there. It was fun to have a course where the kids could knock it around. I then graduated up to the other courses. The four 18 hole courses had something for everyone. Joined the St John's golf club which was one of the oldest clubs around. Spent many summer days there taking the bus from Metairie for a whole day of golf. Also fished out there and fished the City Park fishing rodeo every year with my dad. When I'm in town to visit family I take a ride out to the park to drive around. So sad to see what was once a great facility so run down and in poor shape. Never played the new course but from the street it looks pretty unappealing. I can't believe the LIV golf is going there but if they dump a ton of money into it that would be great!

I play this course regularly as it’s 5 minutes from home. It’s no where near as bad as this makes it seem. North course is a goat farm but still fun. South course is usually in good shape and enjoyable

They just held the state am here. Right after they punched and sanded everything. This is just a reactionary thread. The design is lame but this course is always in good shape.

Wasn’t the state AM two months ago?
And yes it usually always is in good shape. Hence why I thought it was thread worthy how poor it was. It’s not a goat ranch, but I thought it felt on par with Beau chene which is bad for how it usually plays

He’s such a dumbass, and of course the golf board eats it up.
The south course is a Reese jones design. I agree with earlier poster who said it’s nowhere near as bad as this board makes it.
It’s a fun public course. I actually really like the back 9, but would love some more elevation on the green.

What the hell are you talking about? I just posted specific info on the old East course only someone who played it can recall. There are no old scorecards easily found on the web and that opening hole on the East was a beast as was 18.
