I am looking at highlight reels of all things LSU Football…all our teams that won NC’s, any teams that had an ounce of greatness, and for the matter, many other NC teams throughout the country…

…boasted a QB with a set of wheels.

How do we overcome Nuss being unwilling to scramble? Not just a little either, he will need to have some planned and effective run plays.

Downvote away I really hope I am wrong

The two Matt’s weren’t exactly running QB’s man. Burrow was the closest thing to a running threat that won a natty at LSU. I can also name a ton of guys from other teams in the past 20 years that were not runners with rings. Opportunistic defense and run game are bigger indicators to me.

Mauck and Flynn were MUCH more mobile and willing to run than Nuss IMO.

That said, this thread is fricking dumb.

He looks to be in a lot better shape. I hope he’s worked on his agility this offseason but he just needs to be able to step up in the pocket and work on ball security to be elite.

The qb speed obviously won’t win a natty if the defense doesn’t do their part. Qb play has been the least of my concerns.

Regrets but I'm with you. Those intuitions you have concerning doubts about CBK are real. Zebra's don't change their stripes and the doubts you've had about his previoius performance is real also. I was in Vegas and I watched a team that bordered on confused, that seemed to be experimenting instead of concentrating on winning a game, that seemed to consider that contest a jamboree or scrimmage more than a "hey this game counts" attitude. CBK appears to be more concerned with talking about crap that doesn't matter, like "elite" and "tradition" and not enough dominating your opponent or coaching proper assignments. I'm not getting good vibes and when the "hot seat" conversations happen they never seem to sway over into the "wow, what an improvement this guy made" category.

Yeah, Matt Mauck and his 97 yards on 79 carries for the season was monumental.

Jesus, some of y'all...

Does he need to run more, yes.

Does he need to "have a set of wheels", no.

You’re using highlights from last year to indicate how this year will go? As if he just rolled straight into game 1 from game 13 last year without an off season to train..

Mauck’s legs won us the 2001 sec champ game. He was a much better athlete than Nuss.
Is Nuss good enough for us to win a championship? Absolutely!!
Is our OL and DL good enough? That is the real question.

Yes, he was smart about when he ran.

I think that's debatable.

I will say looking at it the last 7 national championship qbs all had at least 200 yards rushing on the season except Mac Jones and we all know how weird that season was. Lawrence, Burrow, Bennett x2, McCarthy, Howard. I think Nuss had -34 last year for comparison.

Sheet will hit the fan if we lose the opener.

CBK won’t have any excuses left
