Who Plays CF ?

In an interview with Mahtook, Curiel was asked who is playing CF next season: "I can't say. I can't say yet". Later, in a different context, he implied that all 3 starters last year will be starting next season. He also added, again in a different context, that he & Standfield are "best friends & he's thrilled Standfield is coming back".

Well there you have it. He had a smile on his face so he definitely knows who will be starting in CF come February. I bet they won't even put Stanfield out there at all during fall ball.

Curiel, that is the deal Coach Johnson made him last year. This is his money year. Curiel isn't going to say that on a public forum.

He was just being generous to his close friends on the team. It's him and he knows it.

Jay Johnson was on Tiger Rag Radio and they asked if the surprise of Stanfield not getting drafted and coming back is a problem with how to lineup the OF with the plan of Curiel going to CF next season. Jay said the way for it not to be a problem is to have complete communication with the players and he told Stanfield that if he were to come back that Curiel would be in CF and Stanfield told him that he would be the best LF in the country. So safe to say that answers the question for everyone that Stanfield will be in LF, Curiel in CF, and Brown in RF.

He's not as good as everyone makes him out to be on defense. Being fast is not the tell all sign that you are a good fielder. Getting a good jump on the ball and taking good angles means a lot too.

It has to be Curiel though and I doubt Chris balks at this knowing it has nothing to do with his own ability in CF.
