Stating farmers would lose $5.1 B if foods switched over from high fructose corn syrup to pure cane sugar.
Farm sugar cane or sugar beets you idiots. Adapt to changing markets like real businesses do or die.

The Corn Refiners Association said the complete elimination of high fructose corn syrup from the U.S. food and beverage supply would cut corn prices by up to 34 cents a bushel, resulting in a loss of $5.1 billion in farm revenue.

I just heard on the farm report that corn exports would increase by 22% this year.
Posted on 7/18/25 at 9:40 am to Crappieman
So now they know how the sugarcane farmers felt.

We have too many groups sucking on the teat of the American taxpayers. Would love to see ex-politicians banned from any sort of lobbying and strict rules put in place under the treason code/laws.

Is sugarcane grown north of Louisiana? I guess they could do the sugar beets

Corn can feed the world but not if we use it to make HFCS.

Corn/Sugarcane industries aside, I don't understand why people consider this a win.
Corn or sugarcane, a can of coke is still going to contain wayyyyy too much sugar for there to be any difference in terms of health.

Applying a large % of your arable land to a crop that has to have a market artificially created for it seems...what is the word?...
oh, yeah, stupid.

It tastes infinitely better.

I usually feel bad for farmers, but I am sick of corn being in my fuel and my food. It is bad for cars and people. Find something else to grow.

And we need to end corn for ethanol in fuel. It does zero benefit.
