If tweet fails to load, click here. Kudos to McKenzie for telling them they are going to have to pay big time to keep him from going to LSU

Big reason all those high schoolers went in first round this year
Deals were cut freeing up money to get players later

Well can’t blame him for taking the money. I wonder if any of these kids actually get upset about missing college and basically being forced to take the life changing money.

I'm a Braves fan, and I was mad at them for taking McKenzie. I never like it when they take our signees, unless it's someone I know has no intention of going to college.
All I can say is if they're going that far over slot, I hope he's worth it.

I mean they aren’t really forced, but I’m sure some regret it, some don’t. Depends on how their pro careers go.

I mean as a 18 year old and someone offered you 3 million to play ball I would say probably most jump on that opportunity. You can always go to college if baseball doesn’t work out.

I used to love those commercials he did for Bud Light.

I wouldn't go that far. After taxes, fees, etc....what's he getting, about $1.5M? If utilized properly it could lead to life changing money though. However, probably not a lot of them actually use it wisely.

Good luck to him and hope he uses his money wisely and... don't watch LSU baseball as it may depress you to see what you missed but... every time it does depress you...go look at your bank statement!

Did I find myself on the OT by accident?

It does seem like a weird lifestyle for some, graduating HS and straight to wherever to play baseball for a living. Weird, meaning good and bad but really just hard to imagine for someone not in it.

You can tell the braves strategy was to sign as many HS guys in the 1-3 million dollar range as theh could. So they carved 500k-1m wherever they could and just spread it around.
1st rounder took 1.36 under slot
2nd rounder to .32 under slot
3rd rounder took took 500k under slot.
and then they took guys in the 7-8-9 who took like a combined 12.5k that’s 12,500 across 3 slotted picks which saved them 595k
if i had to bet Their 7th rounder will take something under slot and Beidelshies

2nd rounder to .32 under slot
3rd rounder took took 500k under slot.

I wouldn’t say upset. I’m sure some wish they would’ve done it, but they ultimately chose to take the money over the experience, so it’s not like they were forced. There have certainly been guys that really wanted to go to school, but the draft became too obvious. One was Blume Enlow, who took senior pics at Alex box and was on the golf course with friends when his agent called and said the Twins upped their offer and met his number.

Or those that have had that sort of money. The more you make, the more you spend. Getting used to no limits at 18 is probably very difficult.
