So I guess they have a percentage. And the basketball team gets a greater percent of the tv revenue?

The baseball team has won 2 national Championships in 3 years. While the basketball team hasn't been revelant in twenty years.. is it any way that this percentage can be changed?

I guess dale brown has more pulled than Skip?

So it's not the university that decides?

Kentucky basketball will get the same TV share as Lsu basketball?

They get a percentage of the TV revenue your sport generates. Basketball generates more TV revenue than baseball does. It's not that difficult to understand.

Didnt the baseball team set a tv viewership record one weekend? I don't think the basketball team has that much viewership the whole year.

I am not surprised that the SEC's basketball TV deal is more lucrative than its baseball deal. College basketball is a bigger draw than baseball nationwide. Not everyone takes baseball as seriously as we do.

I think he mentioned something about Arkansas, Tennessee and Aggie giving their baseball programs more than LSU gives theirs. I don't see a correlation though. I believe LSU just beat out Tenner for the pitcher from Kansas. Unless you let their fans tell it, it's because he'd have a better chance of starting at LSU lol

For baseball, not for any sport.

SEC basketball and NCAA basketball generate more TV money than SEC or NCAA baseball. The revenue sharing is based on the entire sports TV revenue, not individual teams.

Wow. Just. Wow.

I know people don’t understand the business of everything but I am still speechless when those people actually post about it trying to act educated.

It's because the TV deals are SEC wide. Also, baseball is lumped in as "non-sport specific".

Unless it's changed this year, ESPN pays for these in separate deals.
1. Football
2. Men's Basketball
3. All other sports

You been under a rock?

Basketball even in its worst years will still have more money than baseball in its best years.

still a non-revenue sport, or a least a big money loser, and again, college baseball is yuuuge in Baton Rouge, around the rest of the country? not so much

the way the SEC is structured, all schools get the same cut of funds from TV deals.

So:
football regular season deal gets split 16 ways.
basketball regular season deal gets split 16 ways
“all other sports” get split 16 ways.

for postseason money, the participating school gets a larger share of that event’s payout, but all 16 teams get a cut.

so LSU basketball gets a fat ESPN/SEC network check every year for simply existing in the conference.
