Fox Sports is poised to make another big bet on Big Noon.

The network is nearing an expansive deal with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy that would include him appearing on its college football pregame show. The deal would also involve Barstool content being featured on FS1, sources told Front Office Sports.

The deal has not been finalized, and a Fox Sports spokesperson declined to comment.

Fox introduced its Big Noon college football window in 2019. Traditionally, all the best college football games had been stacked in windows later in the afternoon and evening. Seeing the annual ratings success of Michigan–Ohio State, Fox posited that it could garner higher viewership for its top Big Ten or Big 12 game of the week by programming it against lesser competition from rival networks. At the same time, it launched the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show to go head-to-head with ESPN’s College GameDay.

Dave and the OG’s definitely cashing out, which fair play to them, they're all filthy rich.

And I certainly could have aged out, but I think 95% of the content now is unwatchable.

I do enjoy the dozen, but there’s mistakes on graphics, or tech issues, or some other bullshite every episode. You’re a massive media company with hundreds of employees. Can you not type the question your asking correctly on the post edit graphics?

Fox getting desperate. I've yet to meet anyone in person that loves college football and chooses Big Noon Kickoff over GameDay. Hate ESPN all you want, but they hit gold getting Saban on there.

Well they’re both awful and pretty much unwatchable to be fair

I'm not trying to be mean that Portnoy is a Michigan guy through and through, but what expertise does he have to be on a CFB show?

Outside of the "leads", everyone else on those shows has legitimate CFB expertise. Herbie/Corso/Saban/Even Pat Mac on ESPN, and Ingram/Leinhart/Quinn/Urban have real life experience in big time CFB or beyond.

I love Portnoy's pizza reviews, but this seems like a step even further the wrong way

I honestly can't stand Portnoy the personality. Just everything I would hate in a person personality wise he has got it.

I love what he did during covid for small businesses and all that.

I can't stand him on sports takes either, he just fricking sucks.

Mcafee & SAS on ESPN and Barstool on Fox. TV sports talk is so dead, all that matters is who's got the most twitter followers now. Imagine firing guys like Marcellus Wiley to hire Portnoy

It’s kind of a smart play but really pre game shows in general will never get back to what they were

I'm more likely to flip over to them with Portnoy on it than I ever was before. Game Day will still be primary though.

At least Mcafee played football.

Portnoy has terrible sports takes. Terrible.

Portnoy knows absolutely nothing about actual sports. I’m not sure why they’d put him on live TV to talk about it.

Put Big Cat on there if you’re gonna choose one of their personalities to be on a pregame show like that

He was a punter

These guys aren’t even at practice. You get better actual experience being a 5th string defensive tackle if that’s what you want to use as criteria for being an expert.

For the record, I think you can be an expert without having played at that high of a level (or have been a punter) but using that as a feather in McAfee’s cap is pretty disingenuous

But Pat McAfee played CFB and in the NFL and was an All-Pro. He's hard to listen to at times but he at least has been in and around pro locker rooms and college locker rooms a ton.

I hate Desmond Howard more than anyone else on these shows as he flaunts favoritism, but the dude played high level CFB, won a Heisman, and played in the NFL for years.

Seeing what you said here makes me believe 100% that I am right.

Thanks as always for making me sure I'm right

You make a good point about actually being in the locker room, but other than that, being a punter gives you about zero credibility when analyzing the play of other positions

Rumor is they are trying to get more of Barstool in not just Portnoy that's why the deal is not complete.

Not surprising here as Davey Pageviews will move the needle and also be able to spice things up.

Fox is notorious for this over the years in an attempt to chase down Disney, but likely not going to work too well.

I'll be rooting for it as I'm an OG Stoolie...but as many posters said above, plenty of the Barstool Content has lost it's luster.

We'll see how this ends up.

I guess I just have never understood the Portnoy or barstool hype ever.

“Dude, it’s guys like us just talking sports. It’s awesome”.

Yeh man, it’s literally just like us talking sports. Why do I want to listen to hours of something I’m already doing myself?

This will be polarizing which is what the object of the media game is now so go ahead I guess
