Yahoo: Bradley Beal reportedly reaches buyout with Suns, to sign deal with Clippers
quote:
Beal reached a buyout with the Suns on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Shams Charania, ending his two-season run with the franchise. Beal is now expected to sign a two-year, $11 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. The deal will include a player option.

Phoenix would pay Beal $19.4 million for the next five years if his contract is waived and stretched. It would put the Suns below the dreaded second tax apron and avoid the luxury tax, which are positives, but it will only become more of a headache down the road.

Suns trying to build a super team was a total disaster.

That's a steal for the Clips.

Not true. He's 32, veteran but not ancient. He's not a good defender but he can still shoot the ball.
He was unwanted because he had a horrendous contract. But at the low rate the Clips are paying him, it's a bargain. Find me another veteran in the league with Beal's stats at that low a contract.

HardWn, Kawhi and Beal would have been an incredible 3 7 years ago

Basically swapped Beal for Powell, Beal is better. Also added John Collins and Lopez to be the backup center. Although Lopez is also going to be able to to play with Zubac as a floor spacer. Probably the second best squad in the west behind OKC at this point.

With proven winner like Harden and Beal in the fold Clippers gonna get that ring.

Granted, it’s the Clippers and they’ve never won a thing, but I thought the goal of assembling teams is to add players who can help you win. Beal has never helped any team win anything.
He’s uninterested in playing defense and he’s incapable of being a “go-to” guy on offense.
True, he’s only 32, but he’s played 13 seasons and he’s only appeared in 75 percent of those games due to numerous injuries. He’s got a lot of mileage on him.
And he pouts, deflects blame, and refuses to accept accountability for his performance - or lack thereof.
His greatest achievement was being drafted by one of the worst franchises in the league, which signed him to an absurd (for them, not Beal - good for him) contract.
I wouldn’t sign him for any price.

He is making 5.5 million dollars a year. Do you know what a typical 6th man/second unit scorer gets paid? A whole lot more than that

Can't wait for that do-or-die game 6 in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs when Harden goes for 12 points against the Mavericks and is the VIP section of the club less than hour after the buzzer sounds.

Harden has won more games than any player in the league since his rookie season, only LeBron is within 50. Guys who were in the league at that time lie curry, KD, Russ, CP3, etc are all way way behind.

He replaces Powell. Definitely an upgrade. Apparently CP3 is gonna sign too to run the backup units.

32 is old in basketball, especially for a wing like Beal. His in season 13 and has been a malcontent for most of his entire career.
I guess he’s worth 2/11 because he can come off the bench and get you some buckets, but is he willing to play that role?
He’d very likely be a do not sign under any circumstance for me unless I was positive he’s fine with taking a limited roll and not going to be a locker room distraction about it

This deal is pretty in line with what we saw all offseason. Nonstars seem to have taken a pretty big pay cut under this new CBA

It is most definitely not. Caris Levert signed for 2/28. Ty Jerome signed for 3/27. Luke Kennard signed for 1/11.
I am taking Bradley Beal over those 3 pretty clearly all day long

You wouldn’t last very long in basketball operations then

I give it a 10% chance you know who Caris Levert is

Made his name with those young Nets teams that made the playoffs pre Harden trade and was pretty good but kind of unplayable in the playoffs for the Cavs for several years and was probably on a bad contract there
