I’m guessing he knows we read lips on this board which is why he concealed his talking with Joe.

Dumars might finally be someone who could get through to him.

Hear me out…

Anyone who has ever mentored a young colleague knows what I'm talking about

Sometimes in life, when you finally start doing the things others have been urging you to do (like Zion finally focusing on conditioning), the best thing that can happen is getting the chance to mentor someone facing the same struggle (like Queens).

Teaching someone else holds you accountable — it reinforces your own growth because you now feel a responsibility to lead by example.

Like clockwork....

I am hopeful, but not optimistic. Time will tell if, after 5 years, Zion decides to act professionally and live up to his potential.

Can anyone provide an example of a guy needing 5 years to finally take being a professional athlete seriously? A guy with great potential who flounders and finally gets his act together? In any sport?

Zion pulling a hamstring doesn’t mean he didn’t act professionally. He’s in shape now as he was last season. But he’s still highly susceptible to these type of injuries.

He's highly susceptible because he comes in at 300lbs, has 0 offseason conditioning, and spends 3 months trying to get his weight and conditioning good enough to play at the competent level and ends blowing out his hammy in the process. It might work for Embiid because he's insanely skilled and they play a much slower pace, but for a guy like Zion who needs to play with speed, pace, power, and athleticism, it's extremely tough on his lower body.

If he comes in camp and starts the season in great shape and conditioning, he can focus on keeping his Hammys instead of focusing on his weight and conditioning on top of everything else and I bet those hamstrings will thank him later in the season.

Zion entered the season extremely out of shape and battling personal issues. That was the definition of being unprofessional and it helped lead to his hamstring injury last year. He did seem to have a light bulb go off after that. Let's see if it's on to start the season for the first time in 7 years.

Great point.

I’m teaching my wife how to play golf and have have honestly never played better. Kids too, but they aren’t as interested. They all think I’m great I’ve always been able to hit pretty shots but my focus is abysmal and have never been better than a bogey player on a good day - but when I play with them I can somehow rein it in. Don’t drop any extra balls, just let them hit then I hit one quickly to just play at their speed. Yes, mostly because I didn’t want to prove her right for all those years that all I do is drink beer when I play, but mostly because it’s a reality check that I hadn’t been taking something that I dedicate a lot of time to seriously.

I'm not a photography guru, so I don't know the terminology or what to point to, but to me, this photo is 100% a bit edited/wonky. Not sure if it's on purpose or accident, but this is one of the weirdest looking photos I've ever seen. I don't think we can draw any conclusions whatsoever from this. We've seen Dumars quite a bit this summer and he randomly looks like a version of Peyton Manning in this pic.
