I don’t get what the focus is on a signing bonus. Make the money this year in college. It’s the same thing as the signing bonus…. And then he can take a few bucks next year as a senior sign.

Come be a legend at LSU.

His slot was only 206k. Sure he signed alittle over but still…. Come enjoy the luxury of LSU

We need the power bat. We don’t have anyone to fit that right now. No one proven for sure.

He turns 22 in a couple of weeks. I'm sure he'd rather get started on his pro baseball career. He already has 2 rings, has been on the CWS all-tournament team, and has been named an All-American twice. He has little left to prove or do at the college level. He's not going to base his decision on setting the LSU career home run record

Look, I love watching Bear hit bombs, and my wife likes it as he trots around bases for some reason......

Dude is already an LSU legend and I couldn't ask any more for him. Let him go pro and earn it at the next level. He's proved himself here and we are all grateful. There are other power hitters to find and develop!

In Jay we trust!

I'd come back if I were him. He can start his pro career at 23.

300k ain’t happening. Maybe find him 100k from somewhere and an opportunity to go much sooner next year to come back, but all reason and logic says he gone. I don’t think barring horrific injury his floor is much lower than where he was drafted this year.

That $200k bonus will probably be a 6 year contract with less than $40k salary per year while in the minors. His NIL potential at LSU next year could be significant, legit endorsements (not just the typical paying players NIL). I've also heard from former players that college baseball is way more fun than the minors. Riding buses, tiny crowds, getting traded, etc.

I'm not saying he should or will stay but I don't think its obvious he should go either.

I think you guys are really overvaluing the NIL money available for baseball.

Unless you have the ability to advertise at a national level like Arch, Livvy, or Shedeur(because of Deion) there is not hundreds of thousands available for baseball players. Maybe 50-100k if you are really good. Maybe a little more if you are elite and can land a national sponsor or two with sports drinks or shoes/athletic gear.

Bear made about $250k this past year. He isn't coming back. He can get that as a signing bonus and start focusing on his pro career.

I dunno, minor ball lifestyle aint great. And it aint going anywhere. The pros/cons list isnt looking definitive to leave.

And it’s not like he’s gonna start at a high level. Love the kid but he’s got a lot to sort out in the lower levels before he gets to AA and AAA. Those baws can pitch up there and exploit weaknesses

His dream has been to play pro baseball and now it's right in front of him. He likely wants to get started on whatever path that is. His goals have been achieved at LSU and go further than that.

Pirates 1b played 46 games .232 2HRs

Jones might get called up if he does well in the minors.
